Away league match played on 07 March 2009.
Kicked off at 9:30 AM

The first attack came from the Knights, with Holloway crossing the ball for Doel, but he was unable to convert.  The Knights then came again, as Komboni, moved the ball to Holloway, he in turned a defender before releasing Choularton, who, with quick feet, slipped the ball to Doel.  Doel fired goal-ward but the keeper made a good save but was unable to hold onto the ball; Doel reacted first, seizing the opportunity by lifting the ball over the out-stretched keeper, and scoring the Knights opening goal.  From the re-start, the Knights forced the Colts into making an error, and were rewarded by a throw-in near the Colts penalty area.  Taken by Komboni, who launched a long throw deep into the Colts’ danger zone; Holloway pounced, and turning quickly fired home the Knights 2nd goal.  The Colts then fought their way forward but were stopped in their tracks by Blackbourn, who quickly dealt with the danger.  A promising attack by the Knights, bringing Powell into the thick of the action, saw the Colts concede another throw-in, deep within their own half.  Komboni again set the ball high into the penalty area, where Doel flicked the ball though to Holloway, who thundered the ball into the net, 3-0 to the Knights.  Powell and Doel then combined, running the ball towards the Colts goal; Doel had the final shot which brought out a good save by the Colts keeper.  The Colts then mounted a well timed attack, catching a few Knights off guard, but Blackbourn and Choularton remained alert and dealt with the threat.  Greenaway collected the ball and passed it through to Powell, he in turn found Courtnage, but his shot was deflected for a corner.   Holloway placed the ball and fired in a powerful curling cross which appears to go directly into the Colts goal, 4-0 Knights.  Then the match became a little one-sided, with the Knights shooting time and time again; shots from Doel, Powell, Courtnage, Holloway and Komboni, were either wide or well saved by the Colts keeper, Greenaway even went for goal with a header but this fell just wide of the post.  With the half drawing to a close, Blackbourn cleared from defence, where Courtnage quickly slipped the ball through to Holloway; Holloway rounded a defender and let fly, scoring the Knights 5th just as the half time whistle blew.

The 2nd half started as the 1st ended, with the Knights attacking the Colts goal, and shots by Courtnage, Doel and Powell were saved by the Colts keeper.  The Colts kept trying, and soon they were rewarded with a promising attack, which ended with their shot hitting the Knights cross-bar.  This spurred on the Colts, and soon were deep inside the Knights half; a well timed pass allowed a striker the opportunity to shot, which he did with good effect, given Tadd, the Knights keeper no chance, goal Colts.  The Knights appeared to be sleeping, and the Colts took full advantage, quickly nipping into the Knights penalty area, slipping the ball neatly into the back of the net.  The Knights then woke-up and starting playing again, with Doel and Holloway combining through the middle of the pitch; Doel threaded the ball to Courtnage, he held onto the ball to allow Doel to run into space before returning the ball.  Doel took control and zipped the ball into the back of the Colts net, given the Knights their 6th goal.  As the Colts tried to regain control Holloway intercepted the ball and headed straight for goal; using good individual skills, he made himself a goal scoring opportunity, and took it with both hands, scoring his 5th goal of the match and the Knights 7th.  As the Knights set forth attacking the Colts again, a well placed cross from Choularton found Doel, who clipped the ball into the net, giving the Knights an 8-2 lead.  But credit to the Colts, who set off again forcing the play in the Knights area, and their persistence paid off, as they forced the ball into the back of the net, just as the ref blew for full time.  The decision as to who should be awarded man of the match was made very difficult for the Manager, as all the Knights players excelled throughout the entire match, but a decision had to be made.  Blackbourn was chosen by the Manager because of the way and manner in which he stuck to his defensive role, ensuring that the Colts were not allowed many goal scoring opportunities.
