Back at the Mill House the tension was running high as Longy had chased people all week (with the help of Emma) and John, Luis, Daryl and Mark were not available. Would we will be able to field a team against the team that the Darts League Secretary plays for?
Luckily JP, Lee and James were all back in action this week and Longy flew in from Bucharest just for the game!
They turned up LATE and in dribs and drabs. We were more organised than they were! Chris was in at about 7:45 (after his Fish and Chip dinner) and was obviously raring to test out his darts (not sure which set he used as he nomally brings 2 or 3).
Well, it was their pick and they wanted the Doubles game with Gaz and Longy to kick off proceedings. So here is the story of the night:
Longy & Gaz stepped up to the oche (that they complained about not being fixed to the floor and raised) and got away with some steady 60 action (well 26 for Gaz but lets move on). Nip and tuck all the way and we just got bombed out on the double. That fucking double 12 evaded me again!!!!!!! About 6 times! 1-0
James, Lee and JP and as always, James was smashing the treble 20 but and this time following up with the 2 x 20s to hit consecutive tons. Good work mate. But, although the other 2 chipped away the double was not to be found! 2-0 down
Longy, Chris and Gaz on next and once again down to doubles. We just couldn't hold on. 3-0 down
James and Chris for their doubles game and I had a good feeling about this. James once again smashing the scoring with the cry of 1 hundreeeeeedddddd being heard! Chris backing up with some solid work on the 19's. Low and behold, they have smashed the oppostion (with one of their best players)/ 3-1 down
Lee was nagging me to pick him (sounded like Donkey in Shrek - Pick me, Pick me, Pick me). After scoring 3 with the first throw that the oppostion thought was his practise darts, he turned down the opportunity to throw them again. He then proceeded to go 1-0 up. Then after some steady progress he was left with 61. He looks at Longy (who was chalking his 3rd game of the night cos no other cunt can count) and asks "Is it 25 then double 18" and he followed it up with a great little 2 darter. Great work son. 3-2
Still with a chance of winning with 4 singles games to go, JP takes to the centre of the stage. Winning a leg before going down 2-1 after some nice arrows. 4-2 down
Chris steps up and got beat 2-0 but made a bit of a game of it. 5-2
Longy steps up and found possibly the best finisher in their team and he mssed double 16 with 3 darts, the eyes lit up and I had visions of the double 12 that has haunted me for 3 weeks in a row would finally come in. Single 12, single 6 and missed the board for double 3. Nuff said, Game over and 2-0 again. 6-2
Gaz steps up for the last singles game and similar to JP, stole a leg but couldn't sustain that level of performance. 7-2
Supported solidly by Harris, Trimmy and Daily and of course the lovely Landlady that spent all afternoon preparing out ready meals, I mean chicken curry with all the trimmings! Cheers Em.
I also wanted to retract a comment made a couple of weeks ago about Emma being 'a babysitter' for James. He is old enough to stay at home on his own, stay up til 10pm and make his own warm milk before bed (obviously with a cookie).
Killer and Halves at the end was class. Some good hank and with Chris winning £8 and not buying a drink all night he went home with more than he came in with ha ha
Same again next week lads!
