Well Well lads here is the second month of 2013 and what a January we have had . An unexpected arrival in future left back Mansell-Roberts ... Gaz’s revelation that an op was needed .....an earth shattering last minute cup opt-out from our normally calm mild-mannered ginger custodian of the sticks.....an unbelievable show of support at The Prince for the Race Event raising £250............. and young Barrington Botos the midfield playmaker for 2030 about to pop his lovely bonce into daylight to raise or spirits even further . What more could you wish for boys - u could put your manager in hospital at this rate ...........................doh did you spot that ? So as I said its Feb and a ‘Local Derby’ to boot versus Staffs Knot . My team talk was short , sweet and effortlessly easy as one of their tubby midfielders had happened to comment to me on the Dog Night that ‘only Gaz Holder would merit a place in their side’ . The dressing room now bristled ... the warm up was done ... the stage was set ............the aforementioned Gary now adopting a managerial posture (he looks the part) . Wednesfields pitch was heavy (very heavy) and the Knot controlled the first 10 minutes as we got used to our 3 5 2 . We came close ..they came close . A fine block by Cassidy kept it 0-0 . When Andy got caught in possession on the left it gave the right winger time to drill it in for their only goal of the game . They went close again (once) but that was all they had to offer as Prince began to dominate ..wasting a few chances to equalise before the break . Just before the interval a defensive mix up left Casso in a heap as play was held up as the paramedic arrived . They had to call for back up as they realized the car wouldn’t hold Casso and an ambulance (with stretcher) came to whisk him to New Cross hospital. Toone took the gloves and the position admirably and never look flustered as we absolutely pissed the second half hitting Knot with wave after wave of attack . Toony could have had a kip tbf as Squizz controlled a long ball , flicked it deftly over the defence for Colin to lob the keeper and swivel round him to finish 1-1. Enter Vaughan-Campbell , on to replace the curmudgenous Roberts for fresh blood on the left . We bombed again but took a while before Acker White our seasoned midfielder steered in a pacy cross for Squizz to neatly glance in the winner. By now Colin was running the shell shocked Knots in circles and almost set up the much chagrined Luke Lloyd for a third . Smiles all round again boys as we trooped off with a deserved 2-1 victory . The rotund Knot player who dissed us at Monmore looked visibly shaken and glanced pathetically in my direction, perhaps awaiting a smug comment .. not my style mate - I’m saving it for Hydes Rd !.
