After a week of doom and gloom in the Plant household following last weeks debacle , Plant had little to be optimistic about .Battling stomach ulcers and his captain Gazwold involved in a charity run as well , the gaffer had good reason to be pessimistic in this fixture against the league favourites , particularly considering the thumping we got at their place on the opening day of the season . Fishley Friday had raised the spirits of the Silver Fox though (his main critic sprewed up in the hedgerow, banged his head repeatedly on the table and turned into a disappearing orange pumpkin at midnight ) ; Plant had news that Mitch , Squizz and Ashley could be added to the squad to improve options; giving him a renewed vigour as the lads obligingly arrived in good spirits and in good time to prepare for battle . TK dominated the first 30 seconds and that was it as far as they were concerned . We produced what can only be described as a magnificent effort . Not always fanciful - but pretty much 100% graft and commitment . Whilst maintaining respect for our opponents reputation we doubled up in every encounter , not giving TK a chance in the melting pot midfield . This in turn stifled the quality of their through balls which gave our steady back four few problems . Colin and Anton worked their bollocks off up top and forced TKs defence to panic a tad . Robbo clipped one of his lovely balls down the left for Anton who belied his veteran years to roll it to Colin Plant . Col took a touch and played in Mitchell Lawley who drilled a lovely strike to put us 1 0 up .Tom Brettle limped off shortly after with a sore hamstring but Ben Wilson was a more than capable replacement, Squizz turning in our second after a flick on by Anton Allen the dark destroyer . We suffered probably our dodgiest 10 minutes as we lost our cool for a while and allowed our visitors a few half chances from set pieces ..but we held our nerve for main shareholder Craig Sheldon to sort matters out at half time . TK started getting a bit tasty in the tackle after the interval but offered very little quality it has to be said . Mr Toon curved in a lovely ball to Anton who chested it round the centre back Richie Head and hit as sweet a left foot strike into the onion bag as you will see . With Barrington now a bit less animated we relaxed a little . Hickers ( ageing old boot ) asked Baz to pull him off quickly , so Ack stepped along side Ben with Ash going on to the left -team utility player KrisToone filled in nicely for Ack. Black mark Im afraid for Ricky Owen who ran 30 yards to earn himself a red card and a £40 Xmas gift to the County FA. This didnt affect our dominance however and Col looked as though he might get on the scorecard as he broke through to give himself a one on one , unselfishly squaring it to the parsimonious Andy Roberts who slid it home with aplomb. 4 0 . By the time Col had infuriated their Chasetown player into hacking him down to even up to 10v10 , the Squirrel had finished them off with a lovely fifth goal after an assist by Robbo . Even Luke Lager-Lloyd came on for a shift , almost setting up Wilson for his hat trick, only for Lukey to trip over his own feet at the crucial moment . As the final whistle shrilled TK had capitulated. Fair Play to them , not too much in 'afters', several of their lot accepting defeat gracefully , but well done lads a great performance from us today - now we have to build on that next week away to Malthouse .
