The Prince of Wales turned the form books over to a new page today as they despatched top half of the table side Chestnut Tree by 3 goals to 1 . Having been stuffed by the visitors a few weeks ago The Prince lads switched up a gear in terms of attitude and commitment to produce a heart warming Christmas cheer to proceeding at Hydes Rd . Despite having only 11 fit players, the dressing room banter was upbeat following “Fish-ley Friday” with Kenny Gangnam Botos stepping in to the middle of the park and Tiptoner Ricky Owen making his full debut on the right flank . Despite the lack of subs The Prince got well stuck in and both sides could have hit a couple in an evenly contested first half . Zak Booth hit home a fine opener for Chestnut after been given space to pick his spot . Our resolve and patience paid off though just before the interval when the ball broke loose in the penalty box for Squizza to finally find the scoring boots that had gone missing this season . With the honours even at half time Baz made it clear that the game was there to be won for the team that wanted it most . It was up to us to grasp the nettle despite our lack of options to change formation or players . Chestnut may well have had a similar team talk as they bombed our penalty box with crosses for the next 20 minutes . Our defence stood firm and even Casso looked assured as he handled the long range strikes on our goal with unperturbed confidence . Apart from Kens solid contribution , a great show from Anton Allen who won everything in the middle of the park and kept everyone gelled together . As the visitors ran out of ideas , Colin began to get more of the ball as we broke on the counter attack. Dribbling down the left he got round the outside of the full back to thread it to the edge of the box for Geoff Smith to finally break his duck with our second goal. The players went berserk, as did Geoff’s doting Dad who released six months pent up frustration with a joyous burst on to the pitch with the intention of hugging his jubilant young offspring . His celebration was however cut short as he skidded arse first in the mud , not that this managed to erase the beam of ecstacy on his face in any shape or form . Baz kicked a lucozade bottle into the cut in an emotional burst of melodrama and again we had to hold fast as The Chestnuts fought back . A through ball from Ben Wilson found Colin again on the left who again skint the defence for pace and the goalie left an obvious gap for Plant Junior to finish the game off at 3-1 . What a performance lads . We had to weather the storm but we did it in style despite the disappointing lack of personnel and the Prince lads left the field absolutely nackered but justifiably proud of a fantastic show of resilience .
