Baz was reduced to a nervous wreck as once more his team went on the pop for Ben Lawleys Broad St birthday bash on the Saturday night . 9 15 on Friar Park and nobody there except our generously endowed WAGS Sian and Juggz waiting patiently in the banana coloured Junc-Mobile . Elaine settled Bazzes nerves with a cup of coffee and a few round robin wake up calls saw us on our way to Four Ashes , the abode of Wednesfield 86 . Only 15 months previously that very side had trounced us 6-0 in a pre season so Baz made the lads well aware of what lay ahead. Indeed , our Carrot- Pubed keeper Casso had to pull off a spectacular save in the opening encounters as the game swung in both directions. We battled really well though and the home side were reduced to long range strikes , giving our defence little trouble. Roberts looked a real threat on the left and when a through ball from Pete was flicked deftly on by Acker , the parsimonious one made no mistake to put us a goal in front . We created even more chances before half time and dominated despite being outnumbered by their 3 man central midfield . By half time our thirsty warriors were looking mean favourites , but the period straight after proved to be our dodgiest , as we set off a little on the slack side; giving away needless fouls in our own half . The wild eyed Coop had already earned a booking so Baz put Hickers on at centre back and slotted Toone in at right back to give our Stephen a well earned rest. Bad boy Lloyd (lol) came on to replace the tired Ben Wilson and we were creating chance after chance and tbf we could have been a hatful in front hence Baz was now in perplexic mood as he ranted for concentration and effort . Hewitt picked the ball up on the left and cut inside the defender to strike a neat goal which heralded wild celebration in the Darlaston ranks . 2-0 and looking good .... Colin was having a fine game and our defence looked in no mood to concede . However a free kick from Wednesfield bent round the wall and crept inside the post to award them a thread of a chance . As the Junction kicked off from the restart , the home side threw the massive goalie on up front and Lawley immediately got in a fracas with this veritabl mountain of a bloke .... what a numpty..... but also my vote for man of the match. Holder and White gave everything in the centre and Danny Plant capped his best performance of the season with a goal to put us 3-1 up and comfortable winners as the game fizzled out . A solid return for Pedro at left back also , but on the whole a tremendous team effort against a decent side who should finish in the top half . Well done lads !
Wide Eyed !
