Home friendly match played on 09 June 2018.
Kicked off at 5:00 PM

Players surprisingly arrived early for this week's game. Despite being early, Kenny wasn't able to start as he didn't have his kit with him. Following last week's emphatic win over Bolton Veterans, Lord Colin was keen to see more of that performance. Stating very quickly upfront that we need to play the short pass and move in order to get a result. This week's opponents were CBS. We were guessing what it means. The closest possible answer was China Boys in Singapore, as the team were made of China Chinese. The game finally kicked off after their players streamed in.

Whatever Colin asked us to do, we didn't. We didn't get into the game early. Couldn't control the ball well enough and the lack of match preparation was apparent. As early as the 3rd minute, we lost the ball in the middle, couldn't clear the ball away and they bashed their way in to take a 1-0 lead. That was extremely disappointing. Nonetheless, we got back to them. Harold continued his fine form and from his mazy step-overs, he went to the byeline and crossed for Colin. I think he was too short and couldn't get it. Pikachu arrived at the far post though and cushioned it back nicely for Colin to head in from 2 yards. We continued to press. Although we all now know Patrick cannot play on the wings, he decided to push down the left this time. After getting through all the desperate tackles, he laid it square to Harold! Who actually had an empty goal to aim for. What did he do? He miskicked it straight the to goalkeeper. A glorious chance wasted. A long punt from the back led to a defender heading the ball backwards and into Colin's path. Happily, he latched onto the chance and smashed it into goal. 2-1 and we were going strong. Minutes later, a through ball in the middle gave Harold a good chance to score. Instead, he unselfishly squared it to Colin who gleefully accepted the present and scored his hattrick. Obviously last week's conversation between Patrick and Harold doesn't mean anything this week. Take that Pat! However, our defence this week was taking time off. Unsure and lack of communication caused us to concede a very soft 2nd goal. Then a commotion in the middle of the park made the referee gave a red card to the opponent. Well, should we take them on as 10 men? Nah. It's a friendly so we allowed them to sub that player with another. Harold was playing out of his skin. Causing a lot of trouble with his disco moves. Moving to the middle, after waltzing around the right, he looked up and saw a gap, swung his right foot and it went right into the bottom corner. Glorious finish. Nice. But we did't finish the half well. A free kick to them at the half way line was lofted to the right of the box. Instead of meeting the ball, we allowed it to get to an opponent's head and he glanced it across Sherman for someone else running through to tap it in. Another defensive mistake, I must say. Half time came and it was 4-3. It was definitely not a good half for the defence.

Colin has harsh words for the defence at half time. We need to be more committed and sure.

2nd half started and we were well on top now. With Patrick leading the line and anxiously wanting to better Colin's efforts today, he worked hard. A free kick from Max out from the right came over to Patrick. A free header! Instead of heading it, he allowed it to drop on his back and shoulder. It bounced off that and went over the cross bar. Guess he's too tall. A ball through from Yiong made Patrick chased it down into the box. Probably anticipating a contact from the defender, he slowed down and with a slight nudge, he hurled himself on the ground, expecting a penalty. Referee wasn't convinced and wave him away. The crowd were baying for a card to the diver. However, he finally got himself on the scoresheet. Pikachu crossed from the right. A really high ball. The keeper couldn't get near it and Patrick headed it in at the far post. Finally. More chances were created. Colin had already put himself back on. Daryl was playing on the right now. With his usual trademark swing of the leg, the ball whipped into the box. It really hit Coin on the chest. Too hard. It bounced off to Patrick, who somehow was quicker than the ball. It was behind him at waist level and he decided to try an overhead kick and missed. The ball went out. Our final goal of the game was a durian. No prizes for who picked it. Max launched a high ball into the box from the left. It was definitely the keeper's ball. He allowed it to slip through his hands and Colin was there to tap it in. Colin had another chance when he was put through on goal. One on one with the keeper, he was undecided and passed it straight to the keeper. Patrick was still trying hard and he was also through with a great pass. He took his time but a last ditch tackle from the defender put the ball out. Game over. We won 6-3. Colin with 4 goals. Outdoing what Patrick did last week. Guess he's proving a point. Second half, credit to the defence. Who really played much better. With more confidence, commitment and effort, we restricted them to long shots and didn't make any mistake. A special mention to Joseph. He went into tackles strongly and made great strides to cover his position. Well done Joseph.

Another victory under Colin. We seems to scoring goals for fun now. We won't be able to do this all the time. We really need to get into the game early and not make so many defensive mistakes. They might not cost us the game today, but they might in future. Maybe we should start doing team warm up again.
