An internal game to celebrate Incepcion's first year anniversay made up of 2 camps - Blacks (Smokers plus Ex-Smokers) Vs Reds (Non-Smokers)
This game was decided on 4 quarters with players playing out of their normal positions. What fun we had as both teams were quite evenly match. Actually, the Reds were a little more organised and fluent. However, it was the Blacks who took the lead when Harold floated a free kick in and amazingly eluded everyone including JP, the keeper. Sorry Pat, television replays showed you didnt not touch the ball. Neither did your hair. The first half saw several goal keepers making their debuts. Loy did well and Colin did much better. We will have more competion in this position against Pat on weekdays moving forward. Second quarter had Reds coming close with Yew boon having numerous one on one duels with Harolds. Two dribble kings, ball huggers, selfish players...etc..Whatever you want to call them. Was very entertainning though and I am sure both came of unscathed.
Second half, reds came back strongly. Marc Bolton scored when Bee was "Saronged". Embarrasing. Clarence then made it 2-1 to the Blacks after a good one two between SK & Jensen, where Jensen laid the final pass for Clarence to shoot past JP. The reds, duly equalized when Daryl scored after being put through by his father, Poh. Final score 2-2 and it went into penalties. I was told, this was rigged.
Both teams put their first 5 past the respective keepers (which was supposedly the worst five penalty takers in the 2 teams) and into sudden death it went. Well, the pressure was too much and some players made comical misses. Daryl, Jiunn and the bigest clown of all BEE. Who skied it to a school teacher behind St Wilfred soccer pitch. Reds won the penalty shoot out. Well deserved and congrats!
For this event, MOM goes to Bee for several reasons...1: He turned up in Black and he is a NON-SMOKER. 2:Fine goal keeping, basking in the sunshine resting against the upright and having one go through his legs 3: Missed the final spotkick which would have won if he converted and finally last but not least, he was the camera man and what fine pictures he posted. Well done Bee!
Special mention of the Referee as well for being sporting, dishing out many yellow cards and even more reds.
The day ended with a BBQ and everyone truly enjoyed their night. A new committee was elected as well and this will happen every season end moving forward. They are elected by you players yourselves so do give them your support for the new season. The new committee would also like to take the opportunity to thank out-going Club Secretary Sherman for his outstanding contribution for the previous season. We also welcome our first new member Jun Wen (Sherman's son) as No.22 into the team.
