Having rained the whole week during the afternoons, the skies cleared for our game at 5pm. By 5pm, we only had like 6 players. This didn’t bode well for us as we couldn’t prepare properly. I would like to stress again how important it is for everyone to get there on time. 5pm is kickoff, not get to the ground. While I understand that there will be challenges every week, it is not fair for those who turn up early and had to wait for the rest. Hope you guys can work towards getting to the pitch on time.
We had been playing very well and although opponents had not been that strong, we performed well as a team to get the results. Since the beginning of August, we had only lost once, scored 47 goals in 14 games. Very good results and if you want to know more, go to the website. Hearts FC were our opponents on Saturday and most of us were thinking whether it was the same Hearts team that we had met.

Without any proper preparation and team talk, the team hastily got together to start the game. We were cagey from the start and our passes were not up to the mark and gave away possession too easily. We did create a few chances but couldn’t take it. We went 1-0 down when their striker scored from a defensive mistake. And it was that way till half-time.
We seemed to be overwhelmed by the opponents and couldn’t really break them down. Soon, we were 2-0 down before Harold dribbled past 4 players to chip over the keeper to bring it to 2-1. Then they scored again when we couldn’t clear the lines. We switched to 4-4-2 but still cannot threaten much. They broke away again and lobbed Ben for their 4th goal. Yiong then stringed a pass to Yew Boon, who got through and went round the keeper to score another one. Yew Boon had another chance from a corner but could only head it straight to the keeper. Final score 2-4.
In my opinion, we didn’t lose to a better team. We lost because we didn’t play well. I’m not pinning the blame on anyone, the whole team has to take the defeat together. While we played well in patches, we need to know when to release the ball earlier and move the ball faster. I struggle to find anyone outstanding in the team today to name a MOM. Joe had a good game with his strong running, Jason was all over the pitch, Harold scored his customary goal, Yew Boon huffed and puffed whole game. So this week, no MOM.
I’m sure the guys on the pitch are as disappointed as me to lose the game. Let’s take this defeat as a reminder for us to work harder the next game.
