A long drive to Pasir Ris for a 3pm kickoff. The opponents this week was WOF (wonder what that stands for) and they were a group of young and aspiring footballers. For the second week in a row, we started facing 10 men. But this was soon put to equality when their team mates turn up.
Reminder to the team that this was a 3pm kickoff and the heat will probably take its toll. We do have enough subs to make sure we last.

We seem to ignored the heat and quickly went on the offensive from kickoff. Colin laid on a great through ball for Harold who sprinted pass the last man and slotted into the bottom corner. Colin then added a second within the next 5 minutes to put us 2-0 up. It does seem like we were cruising and the confidence was flowing. BUT.. we stopped playing and didn't put in the effort. Despite being only 10 men, WOF managed to put us on the backfoot and scored one with a goal mouth scramble. Changes were made to freshen things up. We won a free kick at the edge of the box and Jalil shot. It crept into the bottom corner to put us 3-1 up. Yiong then shot wide with an open goal after the keeper made a mistake. Patrick then made sure we were well up at half-time with a tap in on the goal line.
Half-time talk was about keeping the intensity and concentration up. We could have been easily 6 or 7 goals up by half-time. Communication was also somewhat lacking during the first half and we needed to focus on 2 key players from the opponents. BUT the key highlight during half-time was Bee's brand new trolley bag.
Second half started and we were definitely the better team. Yiong continued the scoring with a well worked team move down the left, then we won a penalty which Colin duly converted. Then they went to the other side and scored one more. We created much more chances but couldn't finish. Daryl was working hard on the right midfield and could have scored a couple but decided to let his dad go pick the ball from outside the school. Jason had a couple of good chances but decided not to shoot. Final score 6-2.
Another high scoring game and goals were equally distributed across the team. While the opponents so far have not been that good, we definitely have the quality to match any team. The confidence is there and if we play like how we can, we WILL get a good game every week. The team played well and worked hard. Colin with his 2 goals is definitely a contender for MOM but his backheel shot was terrible. Harold didn't break into sweat during the first half thus showing how comfortable we are and how good he was. Yiong worked hard. Patrick ran his ass off. Defence kept their shape well and wasn't really troubled, hence Sherman didn't had much to do. This week MOM was a player who had a time limit from his spouse. He worked hard, kicked everyone and look dangerous whenever he fought for the ball. Jason is my MOM this week.
Well played Fluid!
Next week, same time, same place. It's been a while since our last coffeeshop outing. And we will have one next week after the game. Get together for a quick drink if you can. See you guys.
