Manager Colin: "Every goal we assist today....the person who assist gets $2 dollars" (too bad he didn't have a clause at the start to limit it)

Well...eventually it all went into the club funds...so thank you Lord Colin for the generosity :)

Nice cool weather today and against a veteran team on a familar pitch. We have been playing on the St Gabs field quite frequently recently and our experience on that pitch is starting to tell. Maybe make it our home pitch considering how close it is to everyone's place and perhaps one of the better fields in the NE region. (It's also close to our drinking clubhouse @ kovan :P)

Team Melvin (orginally was supposed to be Bolton Vets) was a mixture of old guys and young chaps. A similar mixture to ours but except that they didn't have any uniform jersey. Seems like a good matchup...well..at least thats what we thought. But we were certainly more motivated by our managers incentive in gaining his first win under his belt. In the end, so many goals were scored and scrambled in, please forgive the match report if some names or items are wrong as we could'nt keep track unless someone saw it and remembered how the goal came about.

Almost right from the KO we were 1-0 up. Opponents Kicked off, passed it around, we pressed, got the ball. A good team move where harold laid the ball off to loy who was breaking from deep into the box, he took a shot and it was parried into the path of henry. A simple tap it. 1-0.

We had a good twenty minutes where the action went up and down and the opponents were starting to get into the game. A defensive mistake again left pass squaring the ball to Darryl who blasted it in. 2-0.

Another breakaway and harold chipped the ball over the defense and yew boon was on hand to flick the ball past the diving keeper. 3-0.

Manager was really sweating now...half time and 6 bucks down. SK had literally nothing to do but keep his groin warm by placing his hands on his groin...

Second half pretty much played out the same fashion. Early break into their box after a midfield battle and ron slide the ball into YB's path and his shot went in off the upright. 4-0

A throw in down the touchline and henry foxed into the box and did a supreb turn to get to the byline and squared for Colin to tap in. (At this point, Colin was prob thinking he shouldn't have put that one away) 5-0

SK immediately called out to Jensen for him to take over the gloves as he wanted to get in on the action. A moment of folly had pat pass the ball to an opponent and he blasted it into the bottom corner giving Jansen no chance. 5-1

We were relentless and keep attacking with a series of corners that pat missed getting a part of his body on to put it into the net.

Another midfield win and with yiong bursting through, a searching ball to him saw him to the ball before the keeper and he duly lifted it over the keeper grasping at thin air. 6-1

Another corner and scramble saw the ball break out to SK who squared it into the box and after some ping-ponging among the defenders legs, YB stuck out a leg to score his hattrick. 7-1

We had one more in us and another scramble saw pat get his expensive boot ahead of the befuddled opponents and another scrambled goal. 8-1

Overall a very satisfying first win for the manager but an expensive one and he gamely stumped up the cash in which we voted to go into the club funds. Cheers Lord Colin.

A shoutout to a very well marshalled defense led by our ball playing central defender. His calm distribution and ability to give us options to hold possesion led to us controlling the game that helped in this resounding victory. Well done and this week's MOM goes to Jansen Quek :)
