Home friendly match played on 11 July 2015.
Kicked off at 5:00 PM

Our opponents this week looked more like rugby players as almost half the team comprises of muscled physiques (no wonder they called themselves Hercules FC) LOL! Their estimated average age was 25, other than an "Uncle" Wong who was the only veteran in the team.

First Half

The match kicked off in a frenzy pace as both teams gave each other no time on the ball. Chances were far and few, as most battles were in the middle of the park. Their playmaker (No.11) was the engine of the team and was trying his best to dictate the game, but was neutralised most of the time by our own "crazy horse", Jason. Most of their forays and crosses into the box were dealt with by our backline and Sherman respectively. Our 2 notable chances came from Colin, who shot just wide across the post, and Jansen, who spilled his shot after the opponent's keeper miskicked a clearance just outside the box. The half ended goaless.

Second Half

Our halftime pep talk by SK was straightforward, don't allow their No.11 time on the ball, and watch their No.6 closely. We started the 2nd half strongly, winning most of the balls, and increased our attacking threats. Our hardwork was rewarded at the 55min mark when Harold harrased their left back, won the ball, burst down the right flank and floated a pin point ball into the box, for Daryl who ghost in between 2 defenders for a 1st time volley into the net! From then on, we were disciplined and well organised throughout match. We should have been 2 up when Harold threaded a through ball right in the middle of the pitch for Patrick, who bursts past 2 bewilded centrebacks. However, as per our Captain's expectation, he placed his shot past the goalkeeper, but past the left hand post too. Towards the end of the game, Colin had another chance to increase his goal tally for the new season when he was put through on goal, but his lob over the onrushing keeper went astray. Match ended 1-0, to mark our 1st win in the new season!

This week's MOM was a tough call for the committee members. Basically, everyone did well, we were disciplined, well organised, and supported each other thoughout match. On a personal note, I like to add my personal observations to each of my mates for this match;

1) Sherman - Composed and decisive

2) Clarence - Consistently hard and commited

3) Jerome - Showed his physical strength against big opponents

4) Ben - Commanding and dedicated

5) Kee - Unreserved and experienced

6) SK - Tactical acumen and passion

7) Patrick - Hardworking and smart running for spaces

8) Jason - Workhorse, our very own 'Terminator'

9) Jeff - Disciplined and complimented the team

10) Loy - Captain and the "Engine"

11) Harold - Skill and precision

12) Henry - Preseverence and determined

13) Jiunn - Smart movement, plays with brains

14) Colin - Fox in the box, expect the unexpected from him

Last but not the least, Daryl, is our MOM for the day! Not only did he played well and scored a wonder volley, he did something really worth mentioning.

Bee's son had a bad fall, and suffered a nasty gash near his eye brow. Daryl was attending to his wound, and comforting the little boy throughout the whole

ordeal. (Bee's son had 3 stitches). He even offered to follow Bee to send his son to the hospital. Well done Daryl, you deserved a big pat on your back!

Thats all for today mates! Have a great day!
