Harefield U21's vs Stonefield Wanderers Match report.......
From the off it there was a good team spirit in the squad and as usual Hodge got a milk tube thing in the face to liven up everyone. Roofy done the usual warm up and before we know it it’s time for kick off.
The Stones and Harefield both started well until Jake put a nice ball over the top to Nick who roasted the centre back for pace to slot the 1st goal after just 8 mins. The Stones regained possession very quickly and 2 mins later added to the goal tally with another pacey run by Nick. The keeper came off his goal line and took out Nick after He had laid the ball in the path of Carl Collins who had a tap in from 6 yards. Although putting the side 2-0 up there was very little congratulations coming in his direction. Tossers.
The Stones then let Harefield right back in the game. The ball was worked nicely down the left and a free man in the box picked out the bottom right hand corner with a coolish finish, 2-1!
A few motivating words from Conker at half time didn’t seem to do anything for the first 20 mins as Harefield were all over us and then equalised.
Again Nick influenced the game and after a nice little run, layed the ball to Roofy for a cool finish on his right foot making it 3-2. Although you wouldn’t know it by the way Conker was abusing the midfield the team were working hard to close the ball down as Harefield gained quite a bit of possession and frustrated the Stones.Even though Carl Pullem seemrd to have a perfectly good goal made by sim chalked off by a slightly biast linesman , Conker would have been proud of flagging that one!!
‘The Harefield ringers’ showed a bit of quality and after putting Mully on the floor, chipping the ball over him and laughing, they were back in it again. Then disaster happened. Mully thought he didn’t want to win the league anymore and threw the ball in our net , so Harefield took the lead. (Well a freak goal really considering Mully and the back 4 had kept us in the game up until then as Harefield created loads of chances). Still fancy signing the one arm goalkeeper from the sun,
There was good pressure coming down the left from Sim and Peter Khoo joined him for the last 15 of the game which took pressure off the team.
On the 80 minute mark, Harefields heads went down when Nick banged in a 25-30 yard screamer right in to the top corner. From there I honestly thought a draw would be good considering how back and forth the game had been. Then stepping up to the plate was Chalkie. He was able to get that throw a few yards longer. A mix between a dangerous throw and a keeper at 5’5 resulted in what looked like a beach volleyball palm in to his own goal! 5-4!!!! The stones were lifted to see the last 5 minutes out and pressure the ball high up the pitch, larguely due to Luke adding a bit of energy up top and almost getting on the score sheet after sliding in and narrowly missing the ball.
A great result and 1 more until the league is ours!!
