The SSAFC scored a remarkable 10 goals again in a game with a bare 11 when they travelled down to Hackney Marshes to play Leyton Orient. The SSAFC welcomed back Mark Gentleman & Frankie Weston who made their first starts of the season while Daniel Ridley & Tim Chesworth returned to the starting line-up after missing last week's win.
The SSAFC started brightly with early chances from Bell & Swales going wide but it didnt take long for the SSAFC to break the deadlock when good play from Gentleman released Jonni Wedge and with the keeper advanced, he hit a lovely chip over the keeper and into the net to give the SSAFC an early lead. The lead was then doubled and it was Gentleman again causing the problems with his quick feet and his lay up to Swales who slotted home to make it 2-0. A great start like last week and the SSAFC played with a real attacking swagger with chances being wasted by the SSAFC, Ridley having a shot blocked by Swales and Gentleman missing from 2 yards out blasting over with the goal at his mercy. The third did come and Gentleman made up for his miss when a corner wasnt cleared and Gentleman beat his man before crossing for an unmarked Jonni Wedge to head home at the back post.
The SSAFC kept up the pressure and Barker had an effort saved before Bell had a header well saved and from the resulting corner, Wedge crossed in and Bell missed a great chance heading wide from 4 yards out! The 4th did come and it was Jonni Wedge on the wing who's cross with the aid of a deflection was high in the air and his brother Jeorge Wedge beat the keeper to head into an empty net to make it 4-0. Swales then got his second when the ball broke to him from 25 yards out and with time and space, hit a lovely 25 yard effort over the keeper and into the net, a classy strike!
Orient tried to get back in the game and had a few efforts on the counter with one effort going wide and the other being easy for Brown in goal to save. The SSAFC then got their 6th when Gentleman got his goal and a great effort when he turned the defender inside out before cooly slotting into the far corner to make it 6-0 just before H/T
The second half started a bit sluggish with Orient causing a few problems but nothing which tested the SSAFC backline before the 7th came when Swales found Wedge on the edge of the box and Wedge with that striking swagger hit a lovely backheel into the bottom corner, a cheeky finish to seal his hat-trick! Orient then got a goal back and a very good strike when the ball wasnt cleared and their striker hit a strike which left Brown helpless in goal with the ball hitting the post and in to make it 7-1. The SSAFC then got back to business and Barker got himself on the scoresheet from a corner which was whipped in and the ball fell to Chesworth who's effort was aided in by Barker's knee into the net. It was then 9 when a ball crossed in found Jeorge Wedge who's header was parried into the path of Bell who tapped in to make it 9.
Swales then finally got his hat-trick and it was all down to Jeorge Wedge who got released by Jonni Wedge and when one on one with the keeper was unselfished and laid the ball on a platter for Swales to tap in and make it 10-1 and the hat-trick for him! Credit to Orient, they kept going despite the scoreline and had a good chance to get another back when the ball was crossed in and the header went wide just before the full time whistle went
