The SSAFC picked up their first win of the season with a dominating display of attacking football winning 11-0 away from home at Dagenham in what was a proud moment for Danny Wishart who scored his first goal for the SSAFC!
The SSAFC welcomed debuts to Paul Brown, Luke Rolt, Mitchell Foley & Tom Carter and it started positively with the SSAFC on attacking form but having a few shots not trouble the Dagenham GK. It wasnt long for the SSAFC to get in front and came with a bit of fortune when the Dagenham keeper kicked the ball out which was poor and hit Ricky Dutton who then laid it onto Jonni Wedge who finished it with the keeper out of position to make it 1-0.
The SSAFC had plenty more chances with Deards missing a golden chance after Devall set him up nicely on the right wing. The second came when great play from Casey Devall on the right took on and beat his man before sending a lovely cross to the unmarked Bell who volleyed home from 6 yards to make it 2-0 and the SSAFC in control of the game. Dagenham then came back with a few free kicks not testing the debutant Brown in the SSAFC goal. The majority of the first half was a midfield battle with the SSAFC having good success in retaining the ball without Dagenham really testing the back line with Sapsed & Farley clearing up any problems.
The 3rd came when a long throw from Dutton aimed for Bell ended up coming off the defender's head into Wedge who's touch and turn shot found the bottom corner to make it 3-0. Wedge then could have sealed his hat-trick before half time but missed his one on one blasting over! Deards then had an effort saved and Wedge had an effort go over on the stroke of H/T.
Changes made at H/T included debutants Rolt, Foley & Carter and a first game for Foster & Brown, it started very positive for Brown when the 4th goal came a few mins in when a Brown cross evaded the first man and found Wedge who slammed home to get his 3rd goal and the SSAFC 4th! It started to be one way traffic with the SSAFC playing some very good football Wedge then got his 4th when great play from Brown on the left found Wedge with a perfect cross who had the simplist of chances to head into an empty net.
The SSAFC were dominating in the midfield with Deards running the show in there with good work on and off the ball and Foley finding the space to play the ball. Wedge then got his 5th goal with his last kick of the game when Brown released him on the left and he came inside and slotted home before being subbed off after a cracking 5 goal haul! Dutton then got himself on the scoresheet when play from Carter on the right who's effort was blocked but the ball found Dutton who poked the ball home from the rebound, 7-0 and plain sailing.
The SSAFC had plenty of chances with Deards firing straight at the keeper and unselfish work from team player Casey Devall released Dutton who beat the defender then somehow put it wide! The 8th came when good play from Devall found Rolt who went throught but was brought down in the box, penalty! The ball was given to Wishart who sent the keeper the wrong way and got his first goal in 6 years! A proud moment for the experienced right back. Foley then marked his debut with a goal when Deards in the middle found Foley with plenty of space and his shot was miscued but rolled into the bottom left hand corner to make it 9-0.
Devall then got himself on the scoresheet from the penalty spot when his hard work got the handball from the Dagenham defender. He stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way with a good penalty to bring the double figures up for the SSAFC. Dagenham then had an effort saved by the alert Brown in goal who had a quiet game for his debut but will take that!
Dutton then finished the game with the 11th when Devall on the left gave the ball to him and Dutton hit a low left footed shot which found the bottom corner perfectly to round up a great days work! The SSAFC ran out clear winners in this game.
