A masterclass of finishing by Steven Teale helping the SSAFC pick up their 3rd win on the bounce with a convincing 8-2 victory against a youthful Crawley side in what turned out to be a decent day for football!
The SSAFC started off brightly and perhaps could have taken the lead when Bell squanded 2 chances blasting over the bar! The SSAFC dominated the midfield battle with Collins making his first start for a while and was running the midfield. It didnt take long for the SSAFC to take the lead when a quick throw from Carroll found Teale who spun round the defender and smashed it into the net! Crawley tried to get back into the game but a header went well over and Peacock made a low save.
Teale then took his tally to 2 when good play from Collins and his defence spiliting pass found Teale who poked it pass the advancing Crawley keeper making it 2-0. The SSAFC started to play some good football and Rowe could have made it 3 but his effort hit the bar and bounce clear. Teale then had an effort saved but it wasnt long until the 3rd goal went in when some good play from Rowe found Collins on the left and unselfishly squared it to Teale who slotted it into an empty net.
Crawley then got a slice of luck when the SSAFC couldnt clear a corner properly and a Crawley pot shot hit John Carroll and slipped through Peacock's hands to make it 3-1, a horrible slice of fortune! The SSAFC were on the backfoot for a little period but nothing which tested Peacock in goal. Just before the half time break, some quick thinking from Rowe at a throw sent Teale through on goal and his finish was cool and calm to make it 4-1 just before HT.
The second half started with the introduction of first games debutants of the season for Mark Hollis & Dave Coates, the SSAFC started well again for large periods and wasted a few chances with Chesworth & Pike having good chances go wide! Teale then got his 5th with a cheeky lob after good play from Chesworth found Teale who saw the keeper off his line and his lob went straight in!
The SSAFC started to dominate and played some great football in spells and created plenty of chances but the Crawley keeper made some good saves. Crawley had some efforts which Peacock saved well. Rowe then got his name on the scoresheet when a corner wasnt cleared from Crawley and Rowe on the byeline looked to cross but saw the keeper positioning and had a shot which was parried into the net from the keeper making it 6-1! Crawley then got another goal when good play from their midfielder and his trickery beat 2 players and his toepunt shot was deflected into the top corner with Peacock left stranded and couldnt do anything about it! 6-2
Good play from Teale then found Hollis who went through on goal but his effort went narrowly wide. Chesworth then hit a shot over and had one saved but he wasnt to be denied as Teale set him up and after his first effort was saved, followed up by slotting into an empty net! He deserved his goal. The SSAFC had enough time for one more when Bell had an effort saved by the keeper before Teale gaved the rebound and after some good footwork drilled the ball to an unmarked Bell who had the easiest of tap in's to make it 8-2 just before the F/T whistle went!
An excellent performance capped off with some clincal finishing and its another win for the SSAFC.
