Sacriston's second game of the season was at home to Ferryhill Dynamos and Segga ended up 7-2 winners.
The game started evenly with neither side posing much of a threat until some good play down the right led to Winter playing in Gav down the wing who then whipped a great ball in with pace which was met by a powerful volley from Renwick from close range; the keeper made an excellent save initially but Sam made no mistake with the rebound to get his tally up and running for the season.
A poor equaliser came moments later when a long punt from the opposition keeper led to a mix up at the back and Davies' fumble hit the shin of the backtracking Chalky and the ball unfortunately ended up in the back of the net. After three years without a goal it's nice to finally be able to write about a competitive Chalky goal, lets just hope the next one is in the right net (your friendly screamer goal will never get a write up and is already forgotten!).
Segga then made it 2-1 with a clever freekick just outside the box; gaffer Sanderson spotted a good opportunity and under instructions from the side-lines Tom made a bursting run beyond the sleeping wall and Luke played him in cleverly, Tom then drilled a teasing cross across the face of the goal which Renwick nodded home for his second.
Ferryhill again quickly equalised when another long punt from the opposition keeper wasn't dealt with efficiently and the ball bundled its way to their winger who finished coolly in the bottom corner.
Sacriston again pushed on and some good work from Tom led to him winning a dangerous freekick right on the edge of the box. Deadly Dean stepped up confidently whilst the rest of the team feared we were about to lose another match ball in the housing estate behind the goal. Fortunately Dean scuffed his freekick slightly so it stayed low and found its way into the bottom corner for 3-2.
It was 4-2 shortly after when the delicious and sexy Chrissy Mordue whipped a beautiful corner in towards the back post and Gav was on hand to rise highest and head powerfully into the net before wheeling away with his hand in air; with the imminent signing of Balotelli for Liverpool Gav may have to adopt the 'muscle tense' celebration for future goals.
Sacriston now well in control made it 5-2 soon after when the rugged and handsome Mordue went on a good run in the middle of the park before laying off Luke Wilson who drilled the ball into the bottom corner via a very slight deflection from outside the box.
Just before half time Sacriston made it 6-2 when Tom received the ball on the wide right and fired in a dipping cross which found its way to the wee man at the back stick and Luke controlled well before firing into the back of the net.
The second half came and Ferryhill started the stronger team but were also doing everything they could to wind up the Segga players. Unfortunately some of the Sacriston players seemed to be getting frustrated over this which played right into the hands of Ferryhill who had their best spell of the game at the start of the half and considering we were 6-2 up at the time it seemed somewhat unnecessary to be getting angry at their verbal abuse.
Finch replaced hot head and resident bad boy Aaron White on the 60 minute mark and calmly slotted in to the backline as Ferryhill's pressure faded away.
Segga had numerous chances to extend their lead with Renwick off the mark on a couple of occasions but by far the worst miss of the match (and probably the season) goes to David Winter who made a good run across the defence and received the ball just inside the six yard box, gave the keeper the eyes sending him the wrong way and almost Messi like he placed the ball 3 yards wide of the gaping goal to the astonishment of his teammates, fans, coaching staff, manager, opposition and referee.
Sacriston then made their remaining changes towards the end of the game and Luke completed his hatrick when Sammy Renwick played him in with a through ball and Luke took it in his stride, rounded the keeper and put it into the empty net.
Under strict instructions and leadership from Icey Mourinho a posnan was then conducted towards the end of the game from the bench in a bid to add a new dimension of atmosphere to the Welfare Ground.
The game then fizzled out with little action and Sacriston in complete control but unfortunately a nasty collision between Luke and the opposition keeper at the end of the game led to a horrible injury which could put the striker out for the majority of the season, hopefully he makes a speedy recovery as he will be a big loss to the team.
Man of the match also went to Luke with some other players running him close, notably Dean who had another great game and has started the seaosn excellently.
Onwards to Pelaw Dogs away next Thursday which will be a tricky fixture as Segga look to get their third win of the season.
