Off the back of an entertaining 6-5 win in the guards cup the previous week, Sacriston travelled to Fram School looking for victory over Red Lion in a different cup competition.
Segga lined up with the same eleven as the previous week and controlled the game well from the off, playing the ball out nicely from the back and across the midfield throughout the opening phases of the game. Sacriston often threatened but were struggling to find the net with a couple of decent chances going off the mark before the deadlock was finally broken midway through the half when Winter went on a mazy run cutting in from the right and dribbled past a number of opposition players before running into the right back who duly obliged to smash the ball into the top corner of his own goal, a delightful finish.
The away side continued to dominate and got a deserved second shortly after when Renwick played the ball in to Winter who again dribbled past the opposition defence impressively before firing a low strike into the bottom corner passed the keeper.
Sacriston defended well for 99% of the half with Summers and Dean in particular looking solid at the centre of defence, unfortunately moments before half time the whole team switched off and allowed a ball over the top to find two Red Lion attackers baring down on goal leaving Davies helpless to the inevitable 'Jew goal' that followed.
Sacriston regrouped at the half and started the second half well, regaining their two goal cushion when Renwick latched on to Winter's ball in behind the defence, fought off the last defender and poked home passed the goalkeeper for his first of the game.
Sacriston then proceeded to bring on fresh legs from the bench in a 10-15 spell which saw five changes and a reshuffle to the line-up; one of the players to make way was the delicate, tender and vulnerable figure of Chrissy (Stiffy) Mordue, who still managed to regain his breath-taking features as sweat dripped from his perfectly groomed face as he left the field.
Back to the game and the changes didn't effect Segga too much with Renwick extending his and Sacriston's tally shortly after when smashing a long range effort into the back of the net via deflections off the post and goalkeeper.
Sam then profited from some good work from his younger brother on 75 minutes when LEEonel Messi played a cheeky back hell down the line to Gaffer Sanderson who played in a teasing left foot ball across the face which found its way to Sammy Renwick who tapped home for his hatrick.
Then came the moment the whole of Fram Stadium were waiting for when Gav played an intelligent chipped ball over the backline which found Thierry HenLEE who controlled well before curling a beautiful shot round the keeper into the far corner, sparking wild scenes on the side-lines and a Poznan led by the ice bullet (to the disapproval of skipper Summers).
Red Lion then came close to scoring when a strike just outside the box forced Davies into making an excellent save onto the post and they eventually did pull one back towards the end when a long throw in was flicked on and landed at the feet of a Red Lion striker who was allowed to turn too easily and finished in the bottom corner.
That wasn’t the end of the goals though as Sam refused to let his younger brother have the last laugh and smashed home (arguably) the goal of the game firing the ball into the top corner from 25 yards on his weaker left side right at the end of the game.
Back to back wins now for Sacriston and they will look to make it three from three away to High Handenhold next week in the league.
