Away friendly match played on 03 January 2015.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

Trip down memory lane today, playing at Fortress Mayhill ;-). Pitch
was soggy and we knew that there were going to be some heavy boots and
legs... Message before KO was to play at a high tempo and get the ball
out of the boggy middle into the wide areas..

Keepers today were RD first half and JR second...

This was a very decent performance today as we tried to play in
difficult conditions. First 15 minutes were very good with the ball
moving quickly, with use of switch passing and setting back. We then
went through a period where passes were too long and straight. There
were tired players on both sides by half time. Second half started
with good intent but passes were not finding their player as players
were unable to change direction quickly. The last 10 minutes was
probably the best period with a lot of short wall passes to get past
players and setup some good goal scoring chances..

Attitude was good from the boys yesterday. Whether playing u10, u11 or
u12 they seem to be addressing it the same way. No hogging the ball or
expecting it to be easy...battling and being physical within rules of
the game...
Defensive pairing of JR and OK did well providing cover for each
other, helped by the communication from the prowling keeper RD
behind them. JR also made some great surging runs and reassuring in
goal. Midfield EH and TH both worked to regain possession,
reading the intercept and then trying to play it simple. GW and
JC were both dynamic, putting pace into the play and hassling
opposition to break up or slow down their play...
EHE had the pace on their last defender so creating opportunities
and goals for him. However we worked on him being aware of the last
defender to avoid turning straight into the defender.

Hook u10s 1st team had given us a couple of good games previously and
are a strong and well trained team.. However for this game I could see
the benefits of our 9aside experience in Div 1 as we looked very
comfortable in possession and better organised defensively than last
time.
