Hook panthers 6 vs 2 Bourne blade foxes.
Last game of season with JC and SD missing, HJS unbeaten record
remained intact. Captain was RD today.
After pre game chat that included 'let's get a good start', we were 1
v 0 down within 10 seconds... It then seemed to take 4-5 mins for the
boys to wake up. Once they woke up, I have to say some of the football
that played was a real pleasure to watch....Lots of composure on the
ball, with support play so that players had options when it came to
passing.
There were some good goals scored today from RD (2), ON (2),
JF and TH. However, there were plenty of other opportunities that
we didn't quite convert with the Bourne goalkeeping doing very well.
With one or two occasions, a little less passing would probably have
resulted in more goals.
Once we got to 5-1, team was shuffled around. OK and TH became the strike pairing with the home crowd
willing them to open their season accounts. TH finally managed it
after a lovely 1-2 with ON and er mild celebrations followed ...:-o
OK was oh so close, but the ball never quite ran for him... next
time OK. I really loved the fact that the boys seemed to help OH
and TH on the scoresheet... That to me was real team and Panthers
spirit in a nutshell.
Composure at the back was very good times, particularly from OK in
the second half. JF likewise and played some good balls down the
line. SR was laying the ball back and looking for support..JR
did his usual surging work on the right hand side and put in a couple
of lovely passes. I think it was also JR that nearly scored a
header from another high quality cross from RD. ON linked up
really well, getting the ball up front and then looking up for the
supporting players.
Disappointment was we sometimes ended in a bit of a football scrap,
with players sometimes not being as positive as they should with high
balls in particular.
End of the match, message to the boys was it is so much easier if you
keep possession...
RE command of the goal area was very good, lots of talking
(shouting) to his defenders and some super kicks both off the ground
and some big kicks out of hand..He also soldiered on after a very
nasty looking collision with the Bourne striker.
Lovely way to complete the league season. Thanks for the super support today.
