Well that was an enjoyable game of football this morning, Format was 4 qtrs so that there as plenty of opportunity to put coaching points across between quarters and also so that we could get JF, JR and RD in goal. Particular well done to JFwho spent half a game in goal and has improved a lot, particularly in terms of the use of his hands... Coaching points that were delivered today included: 1/ closing down the opposition when the ball is kicked not when the ball is received by the next player. Up the work rate... 2/ defensive unit - one player to defend against the attacker, one player providing the right cover line....Any other players need to think about how they affect the game. 3/ Prevent midfield unit dropping too deep, trust your team mates. 4/ do not carry disappointment through the game as it impacts you and your team mates. Other points noted were that the forward line were running too straight making passes easy to intercept and we are still too quiet. Q1 0 v 0 Q2 1 v 1 Q3 4 v 3 Q4 6 v 3 Great game of football by two sets of players really thinking about what they were going to do and cherishing possession. I thought our boys, after the first quarter, played some high quality football and there were a couple of great team goals, particularly the 5th which started from defence. Think we edged the game, with Trojans starting the stronger and Panthers really coming into from 2nd quarter onwards. I was really pleased with the boys, I thought it was 'proper grown up football'. I did note that they got better based on the coaching they received during the game from JH. We now need them to consistently turn up at matches and training with their football brains in gear, thinking before the game/practice about what they are going to do... I'd prefer to say nothing during a game.... Well done to HJ on his 9 aside debut for the team. Terrific performance and he seemed to be right at home with his team-mates. thanks for the great support and I hope we get to play Trojans again before start of next season..
