Brief today was that they need to be aware of space to defend as Trojans are an excellent passing team. Also because of the bobbly pitch we needed to create some space to give more time when receiving the ball. Sadly for us our own passing approach was derailed and the frustrated coach was left to watch our players punt (tut-tut) the ball around the pitch for 60 minutes in our worst performance of the season. Trojans started quicker than a bullet train, winning possession and playing the ball quickly. We're were not able to keep the ball, getting legally barged off the ball, rushing and being pressurised, hoofing the ball up field. Number 4 for Trojans was excellent and he on more than one occasion sailed through our defense only for RE to block the shot..Our approach seemed to be to circle the wagons and keep the opposition at bay. The only outlet was a quick counter with EHE in particular making inroads on the left wing. The rather enforced counter attacking style suiting EHE game. By half time we had done a number of subs as some of the boys looked tyred out there. Half time came, an opportunity to re-group and try and get the boys back in the game. Message was you need to win the right to play... Win 50-50 balls and sort out the movement off the ball to support the ball carrier. Slight improvement in second half, the boys recognise they needed to play better, but we still looked devoid of options when in possession and tractor speed on the ball...2-3 chances came to the Trojans, one a floated cross and great header, but fortunately for us Trojans failed to score. Panthers broke down the left, good play from EHE to scoot down the wing, who seemed to miss his opportunity before finally get the ball across goal for GW to tap in..Trojans spent the next few minutes attacking and it seemed only a matter of time for the equaliser. The equaliser was a a rocket of shot from just inside the box, keeper no chance, but the Trojan had a lot of space and time. In the last few minutes it was full steam ahead for Trojans and we relied on last ditch tackles, including one from JF that probably saved a goal, but left JF with a slight knock. Fortunate we did not ship anymore goals and the game finished 1-1. The positives were eh the weather was nice, atmosphere was excellent, tea/coffee was lovely and we didn't lose. The boys need to commit to training. They need to focus when we train and have a desire to learn as well as of course having fun. thank you to IF for linesman duties today and the usual people for nets, etc..
