Beacon Hill Cobras 2 v 2 Hook Panthers (Ted, Ellis, mom Joab, special
award Ellis).
The home of adventure play PGL Marchants Hill and what an obstacle
course it was today. A game of two halves was certainly true of
today... Panthers started off in majestic form, passing the ball
forward and backwards as if they were in a training drill....
Opportunities came, but once again that final ball or space to shoot
didn't quite happen. Credit to Beacon Hill for some very good last
ditch slide tackles. Beacon Hill looked lively on the break, moving
the ball quickly and intelligently between the front 4.... After a
couple of good efforts Panthers finally scored a shot by TH from edge
of the box looping over the goalkeeper... As soon as we had scored
Beacon Hill went up the other end and hit a ball from well outside the
box that climbed and looped high over unlucky RE into our
net....Just before half time a good interchange sent GW through,
who intelligently laid the ball back for EHE to take 1 touch and
then shoot pass the keeper.
Second half and the game started to swing Beacons way. We were pinned
in our half, clearly the significant slope was having an affect and we
just couldn't get going...Our play was scrappy and it was through some
of this play that Beacon Hill got a deserved equaliser. Whilst under
the cosh we did escape. A great cross from JC was met by RD whose
tower.ing header was just over the bar..a real see-saw of a game and a
draw was around about the right result.
Well done JF deservedly man of match. JR battled well as left
back, OK was working overtime in second half and ON nearly got
through a couple of times. EH was close to man if the match with
some good reading of danger.
