Going into final day of the season with the title on the line wilton was the visitors i ad 16 man squad to choose from lining up in our 4231 formation Nick was in goal a change at right bk as regular full bk squires replaced azza scott n donno was at the heart of the defence with rob harrison in is usual left bk role. wilde n dukey was the holding 2 with jonni n jake on the wings with brunyee in behind parkey. A strong bench with tommo jimmy conlon craig and housley.
It was a very nervy start by us which was understandable there was alot at stake took us a good 10 min to settle and after that nervy start we started playing, although our passing wasnt always the best we still was putting wilton under pressure and u could sense a goal was coming which eventually did lovely crisp strike from brunyee through a crowded area gave there keeper no chance. News had filtered in that fitz had took the lead against manor as it stood we would be champions. Our highline defensive set up worked a treat as wilton couldnt create anything from there keepers long kicks and nick except a few routine stuff had nothing to do. We created 2 or 3 real good chances to increase our lead but unfortunately it wasnt to be. Manor had managed to get an equalizer in the final minutes of the half to go in at half time 1-1 still that result was good for us.
2nd half wilton set off really well and we was very panicky they was really piling the pressure on, An early goal for fitz put them bk in the lead which was really good news for us until wilton for first time in game got in behind and scored a screamer giving nick no chance. We really needed to step up our game which we did and we was really piling the pressure on searching for that goal to put us bk in the lead, news came in from manor game that they had equalised but was also down to 10 men however it was advantage manor we needed to score and with 20 mins to go scott pops up inside box and cooly slots ball home into bottom corner were back on top of the league. first change came off come brunyee and on came tom straight swap and with his first touch 25 yards out its a belter that comes bk off the post the woodwork saved wilton again when jonni's shot came straight bk of the bar. First bad news coming in from manor game they have taken the lead which puts them in the driving seat with 10 minutes to play. A double change off come parkey and jake on comes jimmy n conlon, with time ticking away wilton wasnt really troubling us and the game was fizzing out. News in from manor game was there was a horrible injury to 1 of manor lads with still 4 mins to play in that. Our game came to an end we had done our bit great achievment a double over wilton. and now it was a waiting game for the manor result to come in unfortunately it wasnt what we wanted when it did and we had to settle for runners up spot. But still a great achievement on what as been a fantastic season for ttc you have all done excellent this year and have been a privillage to manager enjoy yer summer rest. utc Bring on div 1.
