A tricky away cup tie against oughtibridge war remorial, was our destination this week. We took a strong 15 man squad for this and lined up in a different formation for first time this season in a 4 5 1, in goal was housely the back 4 of squires scott kyle and rob , warbo returned to the right wing with jake on the left and a midfield 3 of ryan abass and brunyee parkey was the target man uptop, We had a good strong bench of tomo malik jimmy n conlon,
1st half we set off very brightly and was in control playing some good football but we wasnt able to create any clear chances but that was credit to them they was defending really well, they gave us a fright on the break when there lad hit a 25 yarder that came bouncing bk of the bar, It was a propper battle in the middle of the park and thats were the ball was alot of the half as both defences was ecxelent. First goal came from a set piece when we failed to fully clear a corner which there lad smashed home, if there was any criticism it was we dint get out to close the shot down quick enough, however we had the perfect response and really put the pressure on and from a set piece from us quality delivery from spanky and brunyee smashes the ball home, were in the groove now and playing some good stuff getting ball forward to parkey quick who was having a great game uptop on his own holding ball up and linking the play well unfortunately we couldnt create any clear chances but it wasnt through lack of trying, We was dealt a sucker punch just b4 half time against run of play a fierce shot saved really well by housley unfortunately rebound fell straight to them to take them into a lucky 2-1 lead at ht.
2nd half we set off well and played sum good stuff our energy was good we was pressing and ad a few corners but failed to make them count, 1st change came after 55mins straight swap tom for abass who ad run is socks off and ad a decent game, They was growing more into game and starting to cause a few probs with long ball to there wingers but failed to make housely make a save to note. Another change was rob for conlon and jake dropping to left bk. We got caught on the break just beating the offside trap they stretch there lead with a neatly taking lob to make it 3-1. Great credit to us our heads dint go even though we faced another blow Injury really changed the corse of the game then when kyle couldnt shake an injury off he picked up in 1st half it was a blow and meant changing our midfield round as well which we was really just edging it in the midfield battle, jimmy came on to play cm and ryan dropped bk to centre half it knocked us bk a bit but we kept going my final change was squires off for the fresh legs of malik on the right wing with warbo just dropping in at rb to deal with were alot of there play was coming from, from there pacey winger, even with the set backs we ad a real good finnish to game were we maybe could have scored from a few corners we had to really set up a grand stand finnish but it wasnt to be.
