Final game of the season and what a fitting way to end it with a cup final and a trip to New York Stadium, Unfortunately we didnt have all the squad available to be with us for this memorable occasion which did dissapoint me as it would have been brilliant had we all been there as every 1 as played there part this season, However due to circumstances it wasnt to be and we made the trip with a 15 man squad and started in our usual formation of 4231 with jamie in goal a bk 4 of ian ryan dosh n squires reynolds n saun was the holding 2, rougvie brunye n jonni was the midfield attacking 3 with parkey leading the line A strong bench of conlon jonty callum jack and al made up the squad to 16.
1st half we set off a bit nervy in opening 5 or 10 minutes and joker had a decent spell without really troubling jamie, We grew into game and settled well we started playing sum good football and from a good team move sean fired just over from 20 yards out. We won a free kick down our right about 40 yards out. Jonni delevered a great ball to bk post which we failed to make there keeper make a save. Jokers turn to create a chance when there midfield found himself through on goal only for housley to pull off a worldy to keep joker out. Joker then came close again when there striker headed against the post. Sean came close again from a similar effort to hs first 1 early but again just over the bar. Just passed the half hour mark joker get a bit of luck when there lad crosses it in and dosh tries to intercept it only to put it in his own net. We responded well and made a couple of chances from great wing play by rougvie, he delivered 2 great crosses 1 for parkey and brunyee but both times we failed to get it on target. The game was very equal and we was unlucky to find ourselfs going in at half time 1-0 down.
We made a substitute at the start of the 2nd half jonty replaced reynolds who was suffering badly from blisters. Joker set off strong and was happy to play long ball upto conway and on a few occasions he found himself with a yard but failed to make housley work. Just on the hour mark joker lad put his finger in jonty's eye seen by the officials but they wasnt strong enough to send him off and bottled it with a yellow card. Our 2nd change came off came a very hard working rougvie to be replaced by conlon. The heat was awful and you could see we had a few tired legs out there and joker was coming on strong and doubled there lead with a good team move that there lad finished well. Our heads didnt go and we still tried to play and fight our way bk into the game and had a few corners and a couple of set pieces but didnt really do owt with it. A tripple change came off came jonni squires n brunyee on came jack callum n reynolds. Joker won a free a kick on edge of our box which wasnt even a foul in complaint of that ryan got himself booked for dissent. A deflection off the wall gave housley no chance and joker a 3-0 lead which ryan applauded the ref sarcastically and recieved is 2nd yellow and off he went. Based on our performance 3-0 was very harsh especially when they have only scored 1 clean goal. Final change came with a couple of minutes left off came ian for alan which was a nice moment to see father and son on the same field in a cup final.
Overall i was so proud of you all was a brilliant day and a brilliant effort from all involved not the result we wanted but you can all be proud of yourselfs and each other.
Heard loads of talk and positives about looking forward to prem next season lets hope your all still thinking same when we return to preseason in a few month.
