Going into this association quarter final local derby against prem bound team reresby arms we found ourself's with a few key players missing in our captain ryan and mikey reynolds and karl but on the plus side we had brunyee bk after a month away. Still a very talented 16 man squad to choose from with a few key decisions to make 1st 1 was to change our formation from our usual 4231 to 4 1 4 1 in an attempt to play with a diamond in the middle to stop there midfield dictating play. So we lined up jamie in goal with a bk 4 of squires scott bobby rob tommo was the holding 1 the midfield 4 was rougvie jake brunyee and jonni with parkey leading the line, left a strong bench of conlon jimmy abass and the late arrival of kyle,
We set off really quick hunting the ball down everytime they had it and playing some very good football resulting in a decent chance for parkey who smashed 1 that was heading for top corner only for keeper to get is finger tips too it to tip it over bar, From the resulting corner it was a bit of a scramble in box which lead to rougvie having a shot that was just wide. We only had to wait another minute b4 we created another chance with brunyee smashing 1 which keeper again makes a great save another chance same player same result, then after dominating the game for first 15 mins rebo took the lead from a long throw it was poor defending by all the team every 1 got dragged across and left a massive whole in behind for rebo player 0-1. We didnt let the setback affect us and ad numerous chances to equalize and finally it happened with some decent build up play into parkey who out muscles there defender and with there keeper 5 yards of his line a superb lob ripples bk of the net to make the score 1-1. rebo then had a good spell without really causing us too many problems we pick up our first yellow when booby gives doaney a little bit of a push to show him who's boss. we had another good chance to take the lead from a set piece the ball came to brunyee at the back post but somehow he riffled the shot high over the bar. reresby scored 10 minutes b4 the half time break from a goalmouth scramble were we was quite unlucky to concede to come in at ht and see dissapointment on the lads faces that we was behind cos they new they had been best team gave me great confidence for the 2nd half.
2nd half was like first 15 minutes of first half we absolutely dominated the play with sum decent football we just couldnt find the equalizer after a hour of play i could see a few of us blowing a bit hard after putting so much in. first change came after being on a yellow a straight swap at centre off kyle on for bobby. Reresby ad a good spell and created a few chances but housley was in outstanding form pulling some great saves off. we was tired but we was still well in the game and on counter attack jonni is clean through but just puts his shot inches wide. next change saw the most used substitute this season come on in conlon for jake and instantly he ad a chance were ad he been on a bit longer he mite av done better with. Chasing the equaliser my last change was to put jimmy on to replace brunyee who ad started cramping up. Jimmy n parkey then was the 2 attacking midfielders with joni uptop a couple of set plays from us firing ball into box but still didnt have that bit of luck we needed and on the counter reresby had a chance to score but great covering defending from squires prevented that. With time running out reresby get the killing 3rd goal. With only a couple minutes left we still had a go and after a goalmouth scramble ball drops to kyle and he smashes it hard and low into the net. ft 3-2
Would like to say you made the manager proud with that display today it showed we can mix it wth the best teams and we have the squad in depth to compete against very good opposition a fantastic season comes to an end hope you have all enjoyed it as much as me enjoy yer summer lads...UTC...
