Horden Supporters lose the coveted top spot to their immediate rivals at Peterlee Catholic Club after a lack lustre performance. Take nothing away from the visitors who were a well organised and determined side who took the lead on 12 minutes with a free kick into the box which should have been dealt with but instead was stabbed home. 0-1 27 minutes later Horden drew level when a John Bowes cross was flicked on to Michael Heckles for Jonathan Monaghan to finish from six yards. 1-1 One minute later a delivery into the home box was comically defended and resulted in Peterlee going ahead once again. Half time 1-2
During the break a few harsh words were spoken but to no avail as within two minutes the onslaught continued with two goals in as many minutes. 4-1 down and drastic measures were called upon. The introduction of four substitutes meant nothing to the Catholic Club who scored two further goals on 67 and 70 minutes sending shivers down the Horden management team and left a lot of supporters scratching their heads. James Connor, for Horden, was brought on in the 72nd minute and soon helped to ease the embarassment with two assists. The first on 80 minutes setting up Rory Armstrong and minutes later he was fouled in the box. Ricky Ramsay took the penalty and the game finished on 3-6

Horden went into this game sitting top and PCC in second. It was the visitors who started the better and got the rewards when Horden failed to clear the ball allowing the Catholic Club player to fire home. Horden did hit back when Jonny Monaghan slammed home from close range but it was PCC who again took the lead before the break. It got worse for the Horden team in the 2nd half as the visitors scored 4 more. Horden did pull 2 goals back from Rory Armstrong and Ricky Ramsay but it was too little too late. Credit must go to the Peterlee Catholic Club lads who were up for this game and deserved the win. Horden must now pick themselves up from this defeat after putting in what can be described as one of their worst performances.
