We finally get the kind of result I think we have been promising to produce for some time, all this from a very poor start to the game, possibly worst I have seen this season. We were poor into the tackle and poor to get the second ball or compete in general. This isn’t me saying we were awful but just second best to everything. It could be argued we missed opportunities, Ant hits the bar, Ewan lost composure at the back post and smashed it over and others missed the target or chances as Weir worked tirelessly.
So to our goal a bad to one to concede, a straight ball beating all the defence, keeper then isolated and beaten, it’s the first time in 3 weeks we have shown our selves up like that. We need to rectify that quickly and to be honest the second half looked a little more stable but still far from our normal standard. Bigger test await us than Weir so lets shape up a bit in that department.
Our first goal was a flick near post from Kempy and an important one as it gave us a bit of focus getting us back to 1-1, the second from Neil almost a carbon copy except a back post scramble, getting us back level after a complete calamity of errors led to Weir getting in on our right side. Without these goals we were looking at a bit of an embarrassing result. A few changes ensued and a few tactics employed, enter Teirney and Tom. Suddenly it was all one way traffic.
Tierney was a massive boost to get back into the team and Tom slide into right back as if it was his position. The second half then was to be all us, true they got a few break away attempts but in general we controlled the game. A couple of players were not on the game from the start and a few never got into the game, I won’t name names but will try to focus on the better things. Just look at the scores I feel I have been fair.
At 2-2 we looked as if were heading for the point, enter Harley and a few more tactical changes……Boom 5-2. One of my midfielders suddenly came to life to support a turbo charged Tierney and in went 3 good goals, Tierney scoring after some good work from Frost and Harley, Parker netting another probably cross with aplomb and Frosty adds the icing by finishing up our best team move of the day.
Finally we looked confident and the team gelled better to gain the right result. People enquired if the management will take credit for our win today, the answer is no we didn’t play the game and fight tooth and nail for our points, the management made the decisions on your performances and our opponents, truth is after a little shouting and a little passion showed at half time team talk, we showed we were the better team and we showed we’re up for the battles as well as the walk overs.
At home to Stambridge next week we will need to have a little of this games performance mixed with that one of ensign to get our result. Come with the right frame of mind we want the points we want the win…… Good job in the end today lads.
