Winster Wasps...1 Boythorpe...4
Boythorpe took the long journey out to Winster for thier latest league clash against a team they had ROUTED 9-1 a week before. With changes forced on Benny due to work commitments and injuries he told his team, NOT to take the opposition for granted and nothing short of a full concentration would do.
Playing on a school sized bumpy pitch which the grass was quite long, they started reasonably well and within 3 mins forced the home keeper into a fine save low down, Megyesi found Scott Bennett wth a great ball and he fired in first time. Lee Walton was next to test the keeper with a shot fizzed in hard and low. BONSON then beat the offside trap, latching onto a fine through ball from Shane Bennett before firing past the keeper for 1-0.
Wasps however bouyed on with a very vocal home crowd, started to put together a few good moves that made a mockery of thier lowly league positiion and scorer Bonson had to be alert clearing a corner off his own line after 9 mins. At the other end, a Shane Bennett corner was met with a fine shot by Megyesi, but the keeper saved well again. Whitehead went close on the quarter hour, hooking a first time shot onto the bar following another corner.
Boythorpe were still taking chances at the back and were punished on 21 mins when the unthinkable happened, Hardy called his ball at the back but failed to make contact with his header, this set up TWO home strikers clean through on Furniss's goal, the ball was stabbed past the now stranded keeper but onto the post, but this left a simple tap in as the ball rebounded back to the grateful front man. It was now a very even contest with chances falling to both sides on the tiny pitch. The hosts keeper made probably the save of the match pushing away a stinging shot by the lively Megyesi on 40 mins. HALF TIME Winster Wasps...1 Boythorpe...1
With Bennys team talk still ringing in thier ears Boythorpe made a brighter start to the second half, pushing the ball up the line and keeping hold of the ball and on 47 mins a fine run and shot byLee Walton fizzed inches wide. Goodwin was introduced after 55 mins for Lee Whitehead who was carrying a slight knock, and he started to get to grips with the threat that the home side still posed.
His worth to the team was shown just 7 mins after coming on when he flicked a ball on for SCOTT BENNETT to stab home. This lifted the blues and they began to play with a little more freedom, and Sundays hat-trick hero Megyesi began to find space down the flank. A few tasty challenges began to come in as the ref seemed to lose control a shade.
With just 20 mins remaining Boythorpe managed to put clear blue water between the two sides Shane Bennett sent MEGYESI clear, he beat his marker and fired low into the corner of the net away from the diving keeper for 3-1. On 77 mins a Shane Bennett corner was whipped in but evaded everybody in the crowded 6 yard box. Boythorpe finally wrappedc the game up on 86 min s when the Shane Bennett/ CRAIG MEGYESI combo clicked again, with a similar goal to the last. FULL TIME Winster Wasps...1 Boythorpe..4.
