Boythorpe kicked downhill with a very strong wind at their backs gusting the length of the pitch from left to right. The line up was unchanged from last week with just the addition of Chris Shawcroft on the bench.
They took the play confidently to the hosts from the off, and in the 3rd min, Lee Walton broke clear on goal, the keeper came out to meet him and blocked his initial effort, the ball rebounded back to the striker and he took the ball on, although he was being forced wide he managed to put a ball across the 6 yard box, which the on rushing Wright just failed to connect with and the ball went wide.
On 5 mins the same striker lost his marker again, and although he beat the keeper with a smart header, the goal was chalked off after the linesmans flag was raised. Boythorpe continued to push forward and good work by Brown foiund P. Walton in space who in turn found leading scorer Wright whos snap shot was parried by the Swan keeper for a corner. Walton swung over the corner into the stiff breeze but the attack was scrambled over for another corner. From the 2nd corner, the ball was easilly cleared and the hosts broke forward ,Lawrence did well to hold the break but the winger crossed to an unmarked striker on the back post, who failed to control the ball and the chance was cleared.
Boythorpe's determination was rewarded after 13 mins when good midfield work by the blues picked out Paul Walton whos shot was saved , the ball was not cleared and GOODWIN smashed his shot past the keeper. The blues were powering forward at every opportuninity and White Swan were desparatly clearing their lines.
The home keeper was having trouble clearing his goalkicks and on 22 mins one of these was picked up by PAUL WALTON who with his trickery made himself space before dispatching his shot into the far corner from 20 yards. At times it was like a blue tidal wave pushing forward and after 31 mins LEE WRIGHT notched his 17th goal of the season after being picked out by Goodwin.
A few tackles began to come in as the home sides heads began to drop but despite the minor niggles the blues kept to the task in hand and pushed for a fourth which came on 36 minutes as PAUL WALTON again scored after being picked out by brother Lee.
Keeper Martin Potter who had been a spectator for nearly all the 1st half was called into action in the 43rd min as the defence failed to clear an attack and the onrushing keeper saved well in a one on one situation. HALF TIME White Swan Res..0 Boythorpe...4.
Boythorpe knew that the second half was going to be a different affair as the strong wind showed no sign of dropping. The defence showed great composure and tried to pass the ball out of defence rather than try to lump the ball clear, this only frustrated the home side who huffed and puffed.
Neil Hollindale introduced Cartwright for his 1st game since November for the hard working Simon Bonson on the hour as he tried to put the home side under renewed pressure. A crunching tackle between Phil Lawrence and the White Swan number 10 saw both players have to be sustituted on 65 mins and the home side eventually broke through on 67 mins when the Boythorpe defence dallied around at the back and failed to clear the ball, the Swan substitute curled his effort beyond Potterrs dive and in off the far post.
This seemed to galvanise the home side for a while and the pushed forward trying to make a game of it, but Boythorpe instead of retreating and defending pushed forward again and were rewarded on 75 mins when the impressive PAUL WALTON scored what was only the clubs SECOND hat trick in all competitions with the most sublime curling chip beyond the home keepers despairing dive.
This was the moment that deflated the home spirit and Cartwright was unlucky as he ran almost the length of the pitch but his pass to a coleague was miss controlled and the ball was cleared. Boythorpe added a 6th on 83 mins through the tireless LEE WALTON whose hard work was rewarded as he stabbed his chance home after good work by his brother hat trick hero and man of the match Paul. FINAL SCORE White Swan Res...1 Boythorpe...6. With bottom of the league Winster visiting Langer Lane next week a positive result could and should be on the cards.
