Warley made their league cup trip to Dudley Jnrs on the back of two straight victories and a four match unbeaten run. Dudley had made an impressive start to their first division campaign after being promoted last season and was eager to avenge their 2-1 cup defeat to Warley at the city road last season, especially as their league encounter was called off earlier in the season, and so proved the recipe for an exciting game.
The game was barely a minute old when the Dudley forward line threatened the Warley defence and was unlucky to be ruled offside. However the threat of Sam S. and Dan W. up front was evident as soon as the Warley midfield took control and worked the ball forward. In the 5th minute Dan W. latched onto a cross from Sam S. on the right to slot the ball firmly past the keepers right hand side. Club Dudley Juniors 0 Warley Boro 1. The pair again combined in similar fashion in the 12th minute as Sam S. again provided the ammunition to slot the ball past the keeper’s left hand side to make it Club Dudley Juniors 0 Warley Boro 2. Warley again pushed forward with Byron having a goal ruled out for a foul on the keeper. Club Dudley struggled to get into the game but on 28 minutes were unlucky not to score after hitting the bar from a corner. Warley pressed on and both Sam S. and Dan W. forcing some great saves from the oppositions keeper. Half time: Club Dudley Juniors 0 Warley Boro 2.
The second continued as the first had finished and in the 40th minute some stunning footwork on the right by Sam S. saw he’s shot saved by the keeper but the ball falling into the path of the ever improving Junior who shot into the net to claim he’s second of the season and Warley third. On 53 minutes Azza’s ball over the top of the Dudley defence saw Anil with a one on one with the keeper only to be denied by the impressive Dudley centre half with some great defending. Sam S. was unlucky not to be on the score sheet as a combination of some great goalkeeping and a bad pitch meant he was unable to add to he’s seven goals this season. On 62 minutes the two Dan’s combined which saw Dan W. shoot the ball past the keeper to claim he’s hatrick and Warley’s 4th. Club Dudley Juniors 0 Warley Boro 4. Club Dudley, to their credit, continued to play football but the stubborn defence of Colm, the impressive Jack B, Kieran Luke and Azza were all determined to keep a clean sheet. After some impressive midfield play from Brad and Callum, Azza was able to feed Sam D. from the left who drove into the box and shot a cunningly deceptive effort into the top right hand corner which was greeted with rapturous cheers from his fellow team mates.
