Warley opened the new season with an emphatic 8-0 victory over the division 1 new boys Brierley Bullets. Man of the match Dan W. was on fire scoring four and creating two as Warley over ran their opponents in the opening minutes. Dan W also puts himself in the record books as Warley’s fastest ever hatrick hero firing all three in the first 5 minutes of the match.
Brierley’s rise into the division was well deserved as they finished runners up in div 2 last season to eventual winners Phoenix. Warley beat Phoenix 6-1 on their way to the league cup final so the difference in class was there to be examined again and it wasn’t long before Warley stamped their authority on the game. Reece’s sublime 2nd minute pass from the centre of midfield found the hungry boot of Dan W. who composed himself and fired home Warley Boro 1 Brierley Bullets 0. The lads showed real class today. Playing the ball on the floor and creating 41 chances in total. Their arsenal was just too much for the bullets. Special mentions goes to the defence who remained solid throughout, the midfield who dominated and the attackers especially Dan W. who reacted to become more clinical in front of goal. Great start!
