ARCHDEACON HATRICK RELEGATES THE TK DONS!
Late signing John Archdeacon was the talk of the town last night after plundering a hatrick against championship also rans TK Dons.
In another hard fought end to end game league champions Ventolin Inhalers maintained their unbeaten run with a 5-3 defeat of the TK Dons.
Although the scoreline suggests a close encounter Ventolin were always in control and only two late goals from the Dons added some respectability to the scoreline. On another night it could have been 10-3.
The game started with TK Dons only having four players, this seemed to lull Ventolin into a false sense of security and within minutes found themselves one down after a good finish and some sloppy defending.
This inspired Ventolin to raise their game and it was no surprise that chances were being created, first Archdeacon missed a sitter after being put through by Dain and then Keeley had a clear chance but dragged his shot wide. This encourgaed ventolin and after some good teamwork PLASS played in KEELEY who went round two players before striking the ball into the corner of the net.
Chances were coming thick and fast at both ends now as both teams wanted to finish their season on a high. Ventolin took the lead after a through ball from DAIN, released ARCHDEACON who coolly slotted home his first goal of the game.
Ventolin were now in charge and it wasnt look before Ventolin extended their lead, after further good team play, resulting in DAIN playing in PLASS who again finished in style. Seizing their chance Ventolin scored again following more good work from DAIN who again set up ARCHDEACON to complete the scoring in an exciting first half.
The second half started poorly for Ventolin with passes going astray and possession being wasted. TK Dons sensed an opportunity and from a defensive mistake the Dons striker found himself with only Keeley to beat - and he did just that with a fine finish. 4-2.
Keeley was being tested at regular intervals through a combination of slack defending and some good attacking play from the lively dons strikers, the good news was that Keeley was more than capable of keeping the Dons out and continued his impressive vein of form since making his debut at the start of the season.
Ventolin were still creating chances, although Dain, Archdeacon and Keeley were all guilty of missing good opportunities to extend their lead. The fifth and final goal of the evening for Ventolin came after a long ball from defence was controlled an played in one touch by KEELEY who released strike partner ARCHDEACON, who again raced clear and calmly stroked the ball past the helpless keeper.
With the game all but over Ventolin again paid the price for some poor defending when Keeley was caught in possession by the dons striker who then went on to score with a powerful low shot into the corner of the net. 5-3 and as Ventolin kicked off the refs whistle sounded and the season was over and the Ventolin fans could begin dreaming about the new season in the premiership.
Clutching his man of the match champagne hatrick hero John Archdeacon said " That was superb, its great to get amongst the goals and i really enjoyed myself out there tonight"
As the team collected their medals and championship trophy manager, Tony Dain handed over the trophy to player of the season goalkeeper Jake Keeley who has been a rock at the back this season.
Next week Ventolin start their premiership campaign against Hopefull Hammers, and we are hopeful we can give them a hammering..
