Inhalers just too Athletic for Amplicon... Loz double helps fire Ventolin to victory!

Ventolin Inhalers returned in style after their two week spring break, beating local rivals Amplicon Athletic 5-4 in the evenings most enthralling game.

Ventolin started brightly playing some crisp attacking football, making good use of the ball and getting in behind the amplicon defence. with some good movement  After good work from Ranson, Loz squared the ball towards Andy who had burst from defence to slot the ball calmly past the hapless keeper.

Amplicon responded almost immediatley when a great ball from Reece Baker, found the amplicon forward clear on goal, who then proceded to fire the ball home in some style.  Moments later Amplicon scored the goal of the game, when out of nowhere the amplicon player curled home a thunderous strike from just inside the ventolin half, leaving keeper Barton stranded as the ball sailed into the corner.

This didnt stop ventolin playing their passing football with both Ransom and Loz particularly, involed in some of the teams most incisive build up play.  This time Ransom played in Plass who slipped the ball into loz who rounded the last defender and finished cooly past goal keeping legend 'The flying potato'.

With half time nearing Loz doubled his tally and with it gave ventolin  a 3-2 half time lead. Ranson again was instigating play and he found Loz this time from wide on the left and slotted a inch perfect pass into his team mate, who rounded the keeper to tap into the unguarded net. And with that the ref signalled the end of the half.

The second half started with Amplicon desperate to get back into the game, sometimes meaning gaps being left at the back. They were soon punished for this folley when a superb counter attack with all outfield players involved led to ventolin increasing their lead.  Plass took possession  mid pitch, passing a cute ball into Ransom, who cooly played an instant return pass wide and into the path of Plass who on the half volley smashed the ball into the far right corner of the goal. 4-2 and now Ventolin were on the rampage, Archdeacon somehow fluffed the chance of the game though, when unmarked and less than a metre from the empty goal he smashed the ball high against the bar. Disbelief etched all over the faces of the fans!

Archdeacon soon made amends though, scoring an excellent goal on the turn, after a stunning run the length of the pitch from keeper Barton. With his marker tight, Archdeacon took a single touch  taking him away from the defender before striking firmly past the keepers left and giving Ventolin what appeared to be an unassailable lead.

Incredibly with the clock ticking down Amplicon found a second wind, allied with Ventolin taking their foot of the pedal and from 5-2 it was 5-4 after two well taken goals against a tiring inhalers side. With both sides continuing to play football the game saw further chances created and missed, in part due to the earlier efforts of both sets of players.

As the ref blew his whistle both teams could rest well in the knowledge they had played their part in a fantastic match and provided the fans with a footballing treat.

Plass was pleased with the teams performance, commenting on the quality of passing and finishing, and the excellent performances of both Loz and Ranson who both shone on a night when everyone played well.

Man of the match Loz was pleased with his brace and is hoping for more in next weeks late kick off against the Chalk Pit Marauders.
