The game began brightly for Stainton, with plenty of possession and a couple of long range efforts from Matty Devine and Denny Alderson which failed to find the mark and it took until the 10th minute for there to be an end product. A cross from Nathan Tidy on the left found nobody in the box, but the loose ball was quickly run onto by Matty Devine who shot across the outstretched keeper for 1-0 Stainton.
On 16 minutes Devine was involved in the second Stainton goal after a corner came into the box it wasn’t cleared, leaving Devine to roll the ball back out of the 6 yard box and teeing up Anthony Bizwas to score for 2-0 Stainton.
2 minutes later Bizwas had a second goal, after being released to run down the right wing by Lewis Tidy, he cut inside to the edge of the box before firing the ball home for 3-0 Stainton.
On 27 minutes Nathan Tidy made it 4-0 Stainton, after a neat short ball into his path, inside the 6 yard box by Lewis Tidy, it took just a soft placed shot into the corner of the net to beat the Stapleton keeper.
The first reprimand of the game resulted in a yellow card for Anthony Bizwas for not retreating from a free kick on 29 minutes.
On 31 minutes the Tidy brothers were at it again, this time Nathan Tidy setting his brother up on the right hand side of the 18 yard box to hit a powerful shot that the stapleton keeper could only parry into the far side roof of the net for 5-0 Stainton.
On 39 minutes the in form Lewis Tidy was on the score sheet again, this time a through ball from Paul Jenkins allowed Tidy to turn the stapleton defender without a touch, before outpacing him to shoot from around 12 yards. 6-0 Stainton.
The second half saw Stapleton get back into the game a bit but not enough to get a goal and after Bizwas was replaced by May on 60 minutes and Alderson was replaced by Roulston on 64 minutes, it only took another minute before Lewis Tidy had his hat-trick and Stainton’s 7th, this time running through the middle before hitting an awesome shot from 20 yards into the bottom right hand corner of the net.
A minute later Lewis Tidy was again involved in a goal, this time his corner on the right was flapped at by the Stapleton keeper who punched the ball straight into his own net for 8-0 Stainton.
With only a minute of the game remaining Stainton made it 9-0, this time Paul Jenkins got his name on the score sheet, after some pinball in the box from another Stainton corner, May pushed the ball to the feet of Jenkins who fired through the crowd into the net.
Lets hope this form continues next week in the title decider at Hemlington.
Man of the match – Matty Devine, A good display on the right wing.
Mentions for Lewis and Nathan Tidy who both put in excellent performances and pushed Devine hard for MOM.
