The STARLANDS keeper was subject to an early piece of gamesmanship when Phil ' The Hulk ' Carey exposed the whitest legs you have ever seen stuck into the most offensive green socks.......not a pleasant sight first thing in the morning .
From the kick off STARLANDS knew they had to contain the Big leggy. forward and from the start he was in the thick of it put through ! But Calum shepherded him out.
STARLANDS then broke up the pitch with Marcus shooting wide.
A Clearance from Josh , then Mason to Zak which rebounded to the Colron player coming back on side ... An awkward Cross come shot was saved by Ben.
Then a Corner to Starlands was taken by Marcus but cleared at the near post.
Another Cross from Marcus went under the keeper and across the goal mouth another Missed opportunity.
Mason then played a through ball to Josh who earnt a corner.
Luke then went off with bad toe ! ....not an ice skating injury but a nasty fall off the bed ?!... Shame because STARLANDS were losing a key defender and down to a bare bones 11.
A Free kick to Colron but the attacker was turned into a Zak and Calum sandwich.A free kick on the edge of the box was awarded .. The wall moved the wrong way - but a duff kick went to Ben who was waiting for it on his goal line ... But the Colron forward moved fastest and it Resulted in a shot and save.
Kieran then failed to clear first time - and a fierce shot from an acute angle was tipped over by Ben.
Calum to Marcus who set off on a great run pulled it back but no one there to finish.The ball came out to Azza whose shot just went over .
Colron away and Ben off line his line forced the shot wide !
Another through ball and Colron were away again and a shot from distance was saved.
Harvey set Marcus away and a deflected cross was saved by Alex.
Calum then like a nativity shepherded the forward and ball to safety.
Max then put Marcus away whose shot from distance went wide.
The Colron No 10 went through and Calum once again hustled and bustled forcing him to shoot just wide.
Then an Off side but the referee played on and Calum passed back to Ben who picked it up thinking off side given...referee blew but common sense and fair play prevailed. Praise the Lord ! Very lucky escape.
Marcus to Tom who held up the ball very well and played in Azza whose shot was well saved.
Tom played Marcus in again shot from acute angle wide. Tom is looking very self assured upfront and playing in his team mates.
It finished 0-0 half time ....would it be a repeat of last time ? And Colron run amok second half ?
Tom put Marcus through but the defender intercepted it for a corner. A quick break by Colron stopped By Calum.
Calum then again thwarted an attack ! This kid never stops !
But finally the resistance was broken and Edge of the box shot and bottom corner 1-0
Azza shoved over but the free kick came to nothing.
Colron break and Ben came out to hack down the striker for a free kick ! Phew !...no card ...and just outside the box....honest 😳
Max was then pushed over -a free kick to Tom who flicked to Marcus who smashed it in at the near post 1-1 and STARLANDS heads were up !
Ben off his line pushed the attacker wide and once again Calum to clear off the line .
Tom put Josh through and a measured attempt as keeper slid out hit the cross bar !! So unlucky.
Max made a barn storming run and slipped Marcus through who smashed it near post ! 2-1
Ben saved near post and the rebound was kicked out by mason - well done Mason great effort.
Zak, Harvey and Kieran were all giving 100% sliding into tackles, putting their bodies in the way.
Max ,Mason and Azza breaking up play in midfield ...a really good team effort.
Backs to the wall for the last 5 minutes and yet STARLANDS continued to push on for a third goal ?!...madness.
Another last minute cross into the box was half saved by Ben under a high challenge and once again cleared.
And there it ended !....phew a 2-1 win setting up a game v Redstar in the next round.
