Home league match played on 30 March 2014.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

*Our Guest Reporter Raj Bagry steps up to the plate for his 2nd report.* Ati asked me to write the report he even brought pen, paper & a folder to lean on! He said he didn't have a clue with the report...what makes him think I no what I'm doing...? LOL   Happy Mother's Day!!

Castle Vale away 30/03/14 kick off10:30.

Attack of the midges on a sunny Sunday morning with a North Easterly breeze, looks nice but feels very cold!

Full squad save for one, Ben K, who's off with suspected Skive-a-litus oh sorry I mean appendicitis. Wishing you a speedy recovery Ben K!  ( *Actually just needed a Good Poo !)

Kieran's taken the position of keeper and the goal seems bigger as does the pitch.

Bonita - Jed's mum has just handed me some homework for Aran, courtesy of Jed, Aran will be pleased- he was off school on Friday with a high temperature and skive-a-litus, hope it's not catching!

No ref today :-(  yes both Dean & Raj were very, very disappointed. Rob's been given the role of linesman.

Rik had said he was going to try different tactics and positions with the team but with Ben K being off it's sort of scuppered his plans.

Josh right wing, Ben P or Benny as Rik likes to call him on left wing. Callum right mid Oski left mid & Aran centre forward. Jed right back, Marcus centre back & Tom left back with Kieran in goal. Luke & Zak subs.

Castle Vale (CV) kick off, an early effort by their number 9 saw Kieran coming out off his line to make a save & clearance. CV attack again No 9 hits the post, deflects to Kieran who clears it.
Kieran shouts and alerts the team to danger and calls for off side.
Starlands get their first corner. Aran takes an excellent corner but CV get to it first & it's cleared.

CV have a corner, a massive shout from Kieran & it's cleared.

9 minutes in Jed and Aran play a brilliant 1-2 and as Aran passes it back to Jed he runs forward and Jed passes it back to Aran who looks up and has Oski in his sights, knocks the ball into the area to Oski and Oski has no trouble finishing! GGGOOOOAAAALLLLL!!!! Starlands are 1 nil up! And Aran finally gets credit for an assist, his 1st one hey Simon..??? ;)  no payment for assists though Aran!

CV attack again and again but it's foiled each time by Kieran who seems to be enjoying the role.

15 mins in and Jed seems to be struggling, has Aran got his own back for bringing his homework ?? Jokes aside, Jed is limping & looks to Rik to come off. Zak on taking the position of right back.

17 mins in and CV finally score, unmarked in the box as it was crossed...1-1

Zak takes a wicked throw in, Josh takes a long shot, just wide, nice try though.

25 mins in and Oski goes it alone, shoots but it's saved.

HALF TIME....all the boys have put in 100% totally different team from the Starlands team that played CV the week before.
Half time also saw a substitution change, Ben P off and Luke on.

Starlands quickly lose the ball from the centre kick and CV take full advantage, shoot at goal it goes across the face of the goal then Kieran forces the ball out wide.

40 mins in & Kieran makes save after save after save in quick succession.

43 mins in CV  score from a Starlands attack, their counter attack resulted in a goal. 2-1 to CV.

CV corner hits the cross bar which was a long way for Kieran to jump but he tried, out for a goal kick.

45 mins in & Starlands have several attempts the 1st saw Callum running at goal but it was saved of sorts for a corner. From the corner Oski nearly scores, but it's saved yet again.

50 mins in see's CV Score again..3-1

53 mins Josh hits it towards goal but it's way wide of the target. Callum shoots, saved by the keeper but forced out for a corner. CV able to win the ball comfortably to clear the danger. Zak takes a long throw in, Oski gets a head to it but it's saved again! Starlands still applying the pressure despite being 3-1 down, a total change of attitude, fighting till the bitter end.

Another throw in from Zak close to the corner flag cleared by CV but Marcus who was on the half way line runs to meet the ball which is now between the 18 yard box and the centre circle, hits it with immense power, back of the net!!!!
GGGGOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!
3-2.  Goal of the season so far!!!! We're still in the game, There's still hope!

In the dying minutes Kieran makes some excellent saves.

57 mins Josh off Ben P back on.

Full time, final score 3-2 to CV, but the boys played excellent football, creating chances, taking chances & not giving up. They all played a better game, more structured, organised & better passing. If we see more football of this quality we might start winning matches again!

A tremendous effort by all.

Oski received Rik's man of the match & Kieran who was loud and proud at the back received parents player.
