Today saw Starlands entertain local FALCONS in a wind swept hurricane of a rain storm at Aldridge School.
Parents from both sides sat in the cars until the last moment....in anticipation of common sense prevailing and the match being called off...
Alas NO....Rick & Rob like the Roofing Loonies they are were set up on the top pitch ready for action...and they bullied the young referee & Falcons Manager into playing :(
If we'd have lost....The match report may have been less humourous! ....As it was The Boys WON !...which made the weather bearable :)
1-0 Azza scored from a lovely cross from Josh. This was initially set up from our new Rio Ferdinand ARAN playing at centre back.
The second goal was set up from Dynamo Callum to Josh once again who put it on a plate for Oski to place the ball home for his first goal of the day.
Oski was back to his best - and it is easy to forget that he had been out for some time inuured with a pendicitus. Oski and Azza are lightening ...and on the heavy boggy ground were causing the Falcons man mountain of a centre back problems....it was like watching the Ark Royal turn !...Only joking. The lad was a constant threat to us...and went on a few storming runs...going the length of the pitch only to blast over or wide ! Phew !...especially seeing as Ben goes to school with him on the same bus...Bragging Rights are Bens !
Ben came off his line twice to make interceptions.
Kai came on for Azza - and made a lovely pass to Luke forcing a good save from the keeper.
Aran was making some lovely forays up field from the back...releasing the ball to put pressure on Falcons. One such attack went from Aran to Luke to Oski to Josh to Kai...Goal bound....No ! Alas wide.
The same again Aran to Josh to Kai to Oski on a lovely mazy run and finishing well to make it 3-0 - a lovely goal.
The boys were playing some lovely football at times...They must learn to DO IT and THINK for THEMSELVES rather than under instruction from the sideline. However, saying that...it was really nice to watch...and a really pleasure to see.
Marcus was out of sorts today...made all the more obvious due to his normal 100% effort. He was playing out of position, was wet and cold and eventually went down with frost bite.
He was wrapped up in bacon foil like a Christmas Turkey ! and kept between Dawn & Jo for body heat. lol. Sure He'll be back to his best next week - and let's not forget he went on two or three really mazy runs today ...like a knife through butter !
Josh was playing some nice passes today - and ALL the boys were doing themselves and parents proud !
Oski scored the fourth and his HAT-TRICK ! Well Done.
The best thing was when the REFEREE blew for full time ! 4-0.....a WIN....and more importantly We could all get home into the dry & warm !
Kieran had another steady game at the back with Aran and Marcus.... Ben made some good saves off his line and was talking more and kept his handling safe. Callum was Callum...up and down everywhere..Luke was doing some tricks down the flanks and had a couple of shots himself...One just being tipped over the bar by the Falcons keeper.
Kai was energetic and unlucky not to score. Azza and Oski were a handful upfront. Well done everyone !
MAN OF THE MATCH - Awarded to OSKi..
