Sinclair United came from behind to beat SWIS 3-2 and secure their place in the next round of the Oxfordshire John Fathers Junior Shield.
Goals from Ian Timms, Josh Nash and Jason Pritchard were enough to see United through, but they could and should have won by a bigger margain.
United started with a similar line up to the team that lost to Croughton, the changes saw Toby Jones replace Stuart Ciballi in goal, Matt Coyne coming in at right back and Karl Woodcock partnering Adam Timms at centre back.
After making a slow start to the game last week, Steve Nash's side were much better in keeping the home side at bay. The pitch created a bobbly surface for both sides however, which didn't enable either side to play attractive football.
United needed to be at their best to keep out numerous SWIS attacks, with Adam Timms and Woodcock stopping any balls coming into the box. They needed to be at their best to stop going behind and despite a succession of corners, United held firm.
And it was United who broke the deadlock in the match. Despite being against the run of play, a free kick on the right saw Luke Whitehead whip in a curling ball which saw Ian Timms glance a header into the far corner of the net.
The lead didn't last long however though, when a lapse in concentration saw the SWIS midfielder break free of United's defence to slot the ball past Jones in goal.
It didn't stop United working hard despite conceding an equaliser. Luke Butterworth and Josh Nash up front were working hard to find a way past the SWIS defence, but to their frustrations the linesman was flagging them consistently offside.
United nearly restored the lead though when a ball good down the right saw Butterworth feed Ian Timms on the edge of the area, and he skipped past a few challenges before firing his shot just the wrong side of the post.
Some good work in midfield saw Nash break free of the defence and despite managing to round the keeper, he was unable to fire the ball home and it was blocked by the defenders.
They were made to pay however when they fell behind just before the halftime whistle. A corner on the right was not dealt with by United and a cross found a SWIS midfielder completely free to glance a looping header into the far corner.
United were certainly in the contest despite going behind, and knew a bit more determination would see them through.
And they certainly stepped up as they enjoyed more of the attacking moves in the SWIS half. With Butterworth dropping in behind Nash in midfield, the striker was constantly finding ways behind the SWIS defence and could have brought United back into the game. His hard work saw him through on goal but his shot was narrowly past the post.
But Nash was not to be denied on his next chance. Another great ball saw him once again break through and despite seeing his first shot blocked, he managed to recover and loop his shot just over the keeper to bring United back on level terms.
The visiting side had the momentum now and knew they had it in them to grab the goal that would see them go ahead. Jason Pritchard was enjoying more freedom on the right side of midfield and although they had a succession of corners, United weren't able to go back in front.
But they were soon celebrating after 75 minutes when more good work by Nash saw his initial shot blocked by the keeper, only for Pritchard to make no mistake with the rebound.
Following the goal United found themselves under a bit of pressure and were asked to defend firm on the edge of their own box but with Jones not forced into making a real save, United were always going to be comfortable.
As the game drew to a close there was still a chance for United to put the game to bed. With SWIS putting most of their players up the pitch to find an equaliser, a defensive clearance followed by a knock on by Butterworth saw Pritchard clean through with the keeper to beat.
But the midfielder was unable to find the net as his shot was blocked. But it did not matter as the referee blew the final whistle, signalling United's passage into the next round.
