A brace from Toby Jones made it two wins on the bounce for Sinclair United as they comfortably beat King's Sutton 3-1 in BDLJFA division one.
Boss Steve Nash made a two changes to the side who beat Chesterton the week before, with Karl Woodcock partnering Adam Timms in the centre of defence and Toby Jones replacing Jason Pritchard on the right side of midfield.
And United were in front with barely a minute on the clock. Straight from the kick off, the ball came back to Luke Whitehead at left back and with no pressure coming towards him he launched a pin point cross field ball towards Jones.
Jones' pace saw him race clear of the King's Sutton defence and with only the keeper to beat he powered his shot into the roof of the net.
It was the perfect start for United, who were still in confident mood following last week's victory, but following the opening goal the match started to turn scrappy. An early King's Sutton subsitute saw a change in formation which saw the home side struggle to break down their opponents and find the second goal.
The second half saw United step up a gear and they deservedly doubled their advantage when following a throw in, King's Sutton couldn't clear their lines and a ball in to the box was tapped in at the far post by Jones.
The goal seemed to awaken King's Sutton however and they got back into the game when a long ball down the right saw their striker through and he chipped over Stuart Ciballi in the Sinclair goal. The chance was King's Sutton only real opportunity and the goal must have frustrated Ciballi, who had produced some great saves throughout the match.
Despite the frustration of conceding, Sinclair were gifted an opportunity to restore their two-goal advantage. After captain Ben Riley was fouled in the box, Paul Roger stepped up to take the ensuing penalty but saw his tame shot easily saved.
But Sinclair would not have to wait long for their third goal when after good work from Josh Nash, he pulled the ball back for Ian Timms to fire the ball home.
A further subsitution from King's Sutton saw them finish the game with ten men but United were always comfortable in the division one encounter and saw the match out with ease.
The final whistle saw United make it back-to-back wins and must have given them great confidence going into next week's tough game against Ashton Villa.
United's next opposition have already scored more than 20 goals in 4 games and boss Nash will want his young side to keep up the good work and produce a similar performance after their last two wins.
