Four goals from Ian Timms saw Sinclair United continue their impressive division one campaign with an 8-1 demolition of FC Langford.
Further goals from Ben Riley, Josh Nash and Karl Woodcock, along with a trademark Luke Jarvis header, saw United comfortably home to gain revenge on their opening day defeat to the Bicester side, and also saw them climb to fifth.
United made one change to the side that put in one of their best performances away to Diverse two weeks previously. Jason Pritchard came back into midfield in place of the unavailable David Wiles.
The first half saw United initiate the attacks and was always threatening to score. Josh Nash was always looking to use his pace beyond the last defender and with Woodcock and Ian Timms looking to drive forward, it was only a matter of time before the first chances of the game arrived.
Nash was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet within the first five minutes. After weaving his way into the box, with just the keeper to beat he hit his shot just over the bar. United kept the pressure in the first ten minutes of the game with a succession of corners but were unable to break the deadlock.
The first goal of the game duely arrived in the tenth minute though. With Nash and Luke Butterworth working well together up front, as Nash was in a position to shoot the ball fell into the path of Ian Timms and he calmly slotted the ball past the keeper.
That should have been the catalyst for more United goals but it was in fact Langford who were to equalise themselves within five minutes. Following a freekick on the edge of the area, the ball was whipped towards goal but somehow evaded everyone in the box and past Toby Jones in the Sinclair goal.
With the half still relatively young United were always a threat going forward and knew another goal would be coming. And again after a sustained spell of pressure, with Woodcock impressing in the holding midfielder role, the home side were to regain their lead.
With Riley working the ball down the left, Nash managed to find his way into the box and the ball found its way to Timms on the edge of the area and he made no mistake finding the top corner.
There was still time for United to extend their advantage in the 35th minute when Nash was brought down in the box when in a goal-scoring opportunity. Despite the referee failing to follow up the foul with a straight red card, Riley sent the keeper the wrong to put United 3-1 up at half time.
The second half was an attempt to see the game out for United, and despite the team talk at half time they were still guilty of switching off at times. Adam Timms and Will Jones had to be at their best to snuff out any attempts on goal, the later making an exceptional last ditch tackle to prevent Langford scoring again.
But it was United instead who were to score to effectively put the game beyond doubt. Nash picked up the ball on the right side and as he darted into the box he was upended by the defender, with the referee pointing to the spot with no hesistation.
And despite Riley being the main penalty taker, the United captain gave Timms the perfect opportunity to seal his hattrick and he calmly despatched the ensuing kick.
By this point of the game the fixture was effectively over. United were looking dangerous everytime they went forward and they got their fifth of the game through another corner. With Riley swinging a delivery from the right, Jarvis arrived at the back post to stoop his header into the roof of the net, cueing a mass celebration.
Ian Timms was to get his fourth goal of the game to make it 6-1 when a cut back from the right saw him smash the ball home past the keeper and outstretched defenders, and there was still time for Woodcock to grab a deserved goal before a long ball from Jones in goal saw Nash beat the last defender, round the keeper and slot the ball into the empty net.
It was a resounding win for Steve Nash's side who despite not being at their best, continued their goalscoring form to cement themselves firmly in a midtable position. Combined with Finmere's defeat to Croughton on the same day, United's next fixture away to Chesterton could see them edge closer to the top four.
And with a double header against Croughton and games against Ashton Villa, KEA and Finmere to come, United have certainly got what it takes to finish what has been a very strong campaign so far.
