Sinclair United put in the perfect response to get back to winning ways as they thumped basement side King's Sutton 6-0 in division one.
Four goals from Jason Pritchard as well as a fine Luke Butterworth effort and a rare strike from Adam Timms saw United put in a comfortable display on a day when goalkeeper Toby Jones was rarely troubled.
Following last week's display against Bloxham, boss Steve Nash demanded a better performance from his young side. Although the pitch was proving to be difficult to play on, United began to create the first chances.
With captain Ben Riley and Karl Woodcock enjoying space in the middle, wingers Pritchard and David Wiles were enjoying plenty of space as they put the King's Sutton defence under pressure. Josh Nash and Butterworth were working well to test the keeper but it was Pritchard who broke the deadlock in the 15th minute.
After good work again by Nash, the striker fed Pritchard on the left and he had time to fire a low left-footed shot which flew into the bottom corner. But despite taking the lead, United needed to stay tight at the back and some lapses in concentration gave King's Sutton chances they were not able to capitalise on.
But United doubled their lead in the 25th minute in a carbon copy of the first goal. Nash was once again proving difficult to play against and when he fed Pritchard inside the box again, the midfielder made no mistake as he slotted the ball home for his second of the match.
It was a question of how many for United, and Nash's name was nearly on the scoresheet himself. When a long ball was fired towards goal, a defensive header saw the striker free and his first-time shot agonizingly hit the crossbar and went out for a goal kick.
The game though was nearly over as a contest when Adam Timms scored the goal of the game. When a corner was played short, Luke Whitehead fed Timms on the edge of the box and with one touch to set himself the defender rifled an unstoppable shot into the top corner.
Pritchard was denied what would have been his hattrick after being played through by Butterworth, but the latter would get on the scoresheet himself when another move down the left saw Pritchard feed the midfielder and with one touch he curled a delightful shot into the top corner.
As the pitch was deteriorating rapidly, the second half was a question of United not being complacent. Despite King's Sutton applying a bit of pressure in United's half, the defence held firm and their were to increase their lead with Pritchard finally getting his hattrick goal.
Nash was being a constant threat in the box and as he danced his way into the box his low cross fizzed across goal and Pritchard was at the back post to apply the finishing touches.
And there was still time for Pritchard to grab his fourth goal of the game. Following a great pass from Nathan Lee on the right, Pritchard was able to control the ball and powerfully strike the ball home despite the keeper getting a hand to it.
United had lots of chances to increase their lead but with the pitch becoming virtually unplayable, they comfortably saw out the game with very little trouble.
The win puts United comfortably in midtable and with a few games in hand on the teams at the top, a resurgance in their form could see them break into the top four. United face a tough game away at Diverse next week before facing Bodicote Sports at Hanwell Fields.
