Away cup match played on 14 December 2024.
Kicked off at 10:00 AM

In a stunning display of attacking football, Huntingdon Town U12 Whites faced off against Papworth Blasters U12 Blue in a cup away match on 14 December 2024, kicking off at 10:00 am. The final score reflected a remarkable 15-1 victory for Huntingdon, showcasing their dominance throughout the encounter.

Huntingdon Town adopted a 3-4-1 formation, with Reuben Zimmermann in goal, flanked by a defensive trio of Samuel Davids on the right, Noah White in the centre, and Josh Cooke on the left. The midfield was packed with Will Stewart on the right, Jack Edwards and Magnus Kristensen centrally, and Roman Lawrence Alexander on the left, while George Smith led the line as the striker. This setup allowed for fluid transitions between defence and attack, with the midfield expected to control the tempo and supply the forwards with ample opportunities.

The substitutes for Huntingdon included Stefan Maresi, who would later play a pivotal role in the match.

The match began with an early attempt from Josh Cooke, who tested the Papworth defence just two minutes in. However, it was Magnus Kristensen who opened the scoring in the sixth minute, finishing expertly inside the box after a well-timed assist from George Smith. Just a minute later, Smith himself came close to doubling the lead, striking the post with a powerful effort.

Roman Lawrence Alexander was also keen to add to the tally, but his shot in the eighth minute was saved. Nevertheless, George Smith found the net again in the eleventh minute, converting a chance set up by Alexander. The relentless pressure from Huntingdon continued, with Smith scoring his second goal in the seventeenth minute, this time assisted by Jack Edwards.

The first substitution occurred shortly after, with Stefan Maresi replacing Roman Lawrence Alexander in the eighteenth minute. Maresi made an immediate impact, scoring in the twenty-fourth minute after another assist from Jack Edwards, extending the lead further.

As the first half drew to a close, Huntingdon led 5-0, with Smith claiming his hat tick from the penalty spot and the referee signalled half-time after thirty minutes of play.

The second half commenced with Will Stewart made way for Roman Lawrence Alexander shortly after, as Huntingdon continued to dominate proceedings.

A remarkable save by George Smith in the thirty-fifth minute showcased his skills, but it was Magnus Kristensen who struck again in the thirty-sixth minute, scoring with the help of Jack Edwards. Kristensen then added another to his tally just a minute later, assisted by Maresi.

Roman Lawrence Alexander, now back on the pitch, was eager to contribute, but his attempts in the forty-second and forty-third minutes went wide. Jack Edwards also had a shot saved in the forty-fourth minute, while Noah White's effort just before the end of the third quarter also missed the target.

The match continued to see Huntingdon's attacking prowess shine through, with Roman Lawrence Alexander finally getting on the scoresheet in the forty-ninth minute, assisted by Jack Edwards. Samuel Davids followed suit in the fiftieth minute, scoring another goal with Edwards providing the assist once more.

As the match approached its conclusion, Jack Edwards converted a penalty in the fifty-sixth minute, further extending the lead. Maresi added his name to the scoresheet again in the fifty-seventh minute, before Roman Lawrence Alexander scored a hat-trick with a goal in the fifty-ninth and scored his fourth goal on the sixtieth minutes, both assisted by Edwards.

In the sixty-first minute, Josh Cooke had a chance to score from the spot but missed, only for Maresi to net his third goal shortly after. Papworth Blasters managed to find a consolation goal in the sixty-second minute, but it was merely a footnote in a match dominated by Huntingdon.

The final whistle blew, confirming a staggering 15-1 victory for Huntingdon Town U12 Whites, with Roman Lawrence Alexander earning the Player of the Match accolade for his outstanding performance.
