In a league encounter at Buckden Recreation Ground on 1st March 2025, The Hunters secured a convincing 4-1 victory against Buckden Juniors U12 Buzzards.

The match kicked off at 10:45 am and saw Huntingdon dominate proceedings, with standout performances from several players.

Town set up in a 3-4-1 formation, with Noah White in goal, flanked by a solid back three comprising Freddie George, Henry Smith, and Reuben Zimmermann.

The midfield was anchored by Jack Edwards and Magnus Kristensen at the centre, with Will Stewart on the right and Stefan Maresi on the left, providing width and support to the attack.

Roman Lawrence Alexander played just ahead of them as the lone striker, tasked with leading the line and converting chances into goals.

The substitutes for the match included Jacob Wyatt, George Smith, and Sam Godfrey, who would be called upon as the game progressed.

The match began with Huntingdon Town immediately asserting their dominance, launching a series of attempts on the Buckden goal.

In the opening minutes, Jack Edwards tested the opposing goalkeeper with a shot that was saved, quickly followed by efforts from Will Stewart and Roman Lawrence Alexander, both of which were also thwarted.

The relentless pressure continued, with Roman again trying his luck at the 8-minute mark, but his shot was saved once more, demonstrating Huntingdon's early intent.

As the first half unfolded, Huntingdon's persistence paid off.

In the 15th minute, Roman Lawrence Alexander finally broke the deadlock, scoring from close range after a clever short pass from Will Stewart.

This goal ignited Huntingdon and set the tone for the remainder of the half.

Tactical changes were made shortly after, with Jacob Wyatt replacing Will Stewart in the 20th minute, and George Smith coming on for Stefan Maresi two minutes later.

Huntingdon continued to press, and in the 34th minute, they doubled their lead through Jack Edwards, who capitalised on a corner delivered by Roman Lawrence Alexander, scoring from close range with a precise right-footed shot.

The first half ended with Huntingdon firmly in control, leading 2-0 as the referee signalled the break at 30 minutes.

The second half saw further tactical adjustments, with Will Stewart returning to the pitch in place of Roman Lawrence Alexander just after the restart.

Huntingdon's momentum did not wane, and within two minutes of the restart, George Smith added a third goal, finishing from close range after a well-timed assist from Jack Edwards.

However, Buckden Juniors responded almost immediately, pulling one back in the 53rd minute with a header from close range, igniting hopes of a comeback.

Yet, Huntingdon quickly extinguished those flames when Will Stewart scored again just a minute later, tapping in from close range following a short pass from Sam Godfrey, restoring their three-goal cushion.

As the match drew to a close, Huntingdon continued to threaten, with Henry Smith attempting a shot that sailed high and Will Stewart missing the target wide in the dying moments.

The final whistle blew, confirming a resounding 4-1 victory for Huntingdon Town U12 Whites, a performance highlighted by their attacking flair and solid teamwork.

Jack Edwards, with his goal and assist & Freddie George with a very solid performance were duly recognised as Men of the Match, reflecting on crucial contributions to the team's success.
