Greensleeves held on to record a vital victory against the Substitutes that sends them to the top of the league with just a game left.
Elliot returned to the side after a long absence to replace Dave, whilst Josh came back in for Neil.
The lads started well, and went ahead early on as Matt squared the ball for Elliot to stroke home. 1-0.
Greensleeves continued to make chances against a limited but awkward Substitutes team, and it was 2-0 after Josh collected the ball from a throw-in, and turned the ball round the corner for an on-rushing Sam to fire into the net.
Unfortunately the lads didn't capitalise on this early advantage. Eddie was called into action to make a couple of saves after sloppy defending, and The Substitutes were back in the game as they scored on the counter-attack. 2-1.
Half time and The lads had work to do to secure the victory.
The went 3-1 up soon after the break. A cross from Elliot found Holmesy who finished at the far post.
They couldn't consolidate their lead. As the substitutes striker went through on goal, Eddie came out but was indecisive and started to back pedal, losing his bearings. The Substitutes striker stroked the ball into an empty net, and Eddie proceeded to blame Sam, despite him being off the pitch at the time.
Greensleeves again their lead. a break saw Josh play the ball through to Holmesy, who squared for Matt to tap in from the angle.
Again however, the two-goal advantage didn't last long, as The Substitutes started to bring on some questionable replacements, who had previously finished a game in the top division. A finish in the far corner saw the lead reduced to one. 4-3.
Luckily though, the boys in Green gave themselves some breathing space as Elliot robbed the defender and finished well in the closing minutes to secure a 5-3 win.
Greensleeves now play Prestige Worldwide in probably the biggest fixture since the glorious 2006 cup final. Nothing less than 3 points will do as they look to secure their first Pitch Invasion title.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Josh made an impressive return, using the ball well, and getting some good tackles in.
