Greensleeves secured another valuable victory, but in truth their overall display was poor. The team was weakened somewhat with the absence of dave and Elliot, but there was no excuse for the performance.
They certainly started well enough. Matt opened the scoring after barely a minute when the ball broke to him following a cross. 1-0.
Greensleeves were well on top in the opening minutes, and the lead was double shortly after, Matt feeding Josh who did really well to stroke the ball past the onrushing 'keeper. 2-0.
Matt made it 3-0 after a good ball from Sam, and when Lewis capitalised on an error which saw the goalkeeper stranded well out of his goal to make it 4-0, double figures looked to be on the cards.
Unfortunately Olimpico grabbed a lifeline just before half time. Matt failed to deal with a long ball and the Olimpico striker nipped in to finish from an angle. 4-1. Sloppy passing and even sloppier marking was giving Olipico impetus.
It was 4-2 shortly after half time as another goal was pulled back, as somehow a shot from distance that was low and straight in the mddle of the goal went through Eddie, who seemed more interested in hugging the Olmpico striker he was standing next to.
Steve rifled in from range following an interesting flick from Josh to make it 5-2, and Sam looked to have made the game safe when he converted Matt's pull back for 6-2.
There was still time for two Olmpico goals to make it a nervy finish, the game ended 6-4.
Anyone donning the Green shirt needs to remember that you attack as a team and defend as a team. If you are too tired and there are substitutes available then you take yourself off.
There will need to be an improvement before next weeks game.
MAN OF THE MATCH: Sam gets this again, the only solid defensive presence in this game.
STAT OF THE MATCH: Greensleeves have not conceded four goals since last summer.
