Greensleeves returned to form with a convincing victory over Bossalona.
The line up saw some changes. Sam and Elliot were unavailable, but Matt and Holmesy came in. Sam's madball tactical ideas were canned and the team returned to their tried and tested methods, being solid at the back and lethal on the break.
The Boys in Green were happy to cede possession from the off, inviting Bossalona onto them. Discipline and hard meant it was extremely difficult for Bosslona to create any openings whatsoever, and they suffered again and again when losing the ball.
Dave had a couple of early chances to put Greensleeves ahead, but blazed over on one occasion, and was thwarted by the 'keeper on another.
Holmesy broke the deadlock. A quick pass from Matt put him through on goal, and he made no mistake, rounding the 'keeper and finishing well. 1-0.
Greensleeves had further chances before the break. Matt had a one-on- one saved, and Josh and Holmesy had shots blocked.
The lead was doubled when Josh's pass found Matt on the left. He twisted and turned in the box before firing low past the 'keeper. 2-0.
Half time came and Greensleeves knew they would cruise to victory if they kept their shape.
There were a couple of hairy moments at the start of the second half, where the Green Army failed to clear properly, but Bossalona still failed to muster a clear shot on goal. In truth, Eddie was having little to do in terms of shot-stopping, but his distribution was strong.
Greensleeves really started to pile the pressure on. The passing was superb with Josh orchestrating things from the back whilst marshalling the Bossalona striker superbly. Numerous chances were spurned as the Bossalona goalie made a series of fine saves.
Holmesy rasped a drive onto the post, Matt's chip hit the bar and his left foot shot crashed against the post. The third was always coming, and it duly arrived when Holmesy robbed the defender and chipped cheekily past the 'keeper.
Greensleeves should have added to their 3 goals before the end, but it was Bossalona who scored with a couple of minutes remaining. Josh's first misplaced pass of the evening found their striker, who slotted past Eddie. It was the only blot on Josh's copybook and prevented him getting a 10 out of 10 in the match ratings.
MAN OF THE MATCH - Toss up between Holmesy and Josh, but the former just edges it courtesy of some superb finishes past a very good opponent.
