The Giants chose today to put in the most atrocious performance of the season against the men from Sleights on their home turf.
Only 34 seconds in to the game the away side managed to go a goal behind after a defensive head kick lapse saw a Sleights Seahawk baddy rifle home from 20 to leave Cambi the goal denyer and his boys shocked and sad.
Kieran Le'Friett, who was starved of any service all game came close to an equalization strike midway through the quarter as he fired at the keeper when in a 1 on 1 dramatic situation in a rare Giants attack.
The closest the Rudstoners came to staining the Sleights goal denyers sheets came from Plumpton as he kissed the crossbar with a 25 yard free kick on 37.
Sadly that's about as good as it got for the Purples as another defensive head kick lapse let in a Seahawk to double the lead on 60 minutes, and with no real threat in the final third for everyone’s favourite Purple coloured soccer team - it did not look good.
Two became 3 on 73 minutes as a partially cleared corner was not closed down, and the home dude fired past the unfortunate Campbell in the Giant net to hammer that final nail in to the coffin.
To rub salt in to the wounds ladykiller Neil Prentice also managed to entertain the fans with a trademark open goal miss from 4 yards which caused said fans great disappointment and heartache on their travels back to the big city as the absence of a few missing Giants was sorely felt.
Hopefully this was a blip and not the start of a seasonal derail.
Will the Giants bounce back with cup experts Itis Itis Rovers on the horizon in the Frank White World Series Semeye final next week? Tune in to find out!
