Affinity's most important game of the season would start with a 50% fit Steve Moore and the last minute withdrawal of Ian. Simon Foster filled in at centre half to bolster the back four.
This game had it all. Goals, extra time & penalties.
There was never much between the two sides at any point in the game with both teams giving everything they had. Defences were strong, the midfield competitive and attempts on goal limited.
Affinity were first to score with Josh P finishing off a fine team move with James supplying the final ball. There wasn't time to enjoy the lead as Mosaic came straight back. Affinity's defence was looking secure until a small mistake lead to the Mosaic equaliser from a free kick.
The second half would be as tight as the first with few chances at either end. Affinity were given a penalty with 20 minutes to go after Josh P was brought down. Jordan stepped up to take it and clipped the bar coming back into play giving Josh P the chance to finish it but it just went wide. Mosaic had one final chance 5 minutes from the end of normal play but the striker put it high and wide.
Extra time was edgy as fatigue and not wanting to given anything away became more and more a factor. Penalties it would be.
Huge credit to all the players from both sides with the bottle to step up and take penalties. Affinity's hearts broken with Mosaic winning 5-4.
Difficult to pick a man of the match from a bunch of lads who had given everything but Simon Foster just shaded it with a cultured performance and a cool penalty
